Judging from his size at the JMM fight plus his speed, I say he's too good for any welterweight. Paul Williams MIGHT could beat him but I think the majority thinks PWill is not interested in 147 anymore. Zab was beating Cotto for awhile, Pac would have the same disadvantages that JMM had (except Pac would be dangerous in the early rounds.) Floyd would take over after 5.
Mosley is a shadow of what he once was. Size wise and skill wise he's the most competitive fight out there, but his reflexes can't match Floyd's. Clottey would be a tough test (I thought Clottey beat Cotto), but Cotto knocked Clottey on his ass with a jab. Clottey had no answer to Zab until Zab burned himself out, and got cut. It will be a cold day in hell before Floyd gets tired.
Floyd beats anybody at 147.
well i don't know about you, but i do see as a mismatch a fight between a guy that's 141 re hydrated (and has never fought above 135 pounds) go against a guy that failed to make the 144 limit because he's too big to make it; the same that a day later declined to weigh himself again on fight night for some mysterious reason
and yeah, DLH weighted 167 on fight night, but he and marquez were the old dudes in their respective fights against floyd. DLH held all the advantages against floyd except age, but floyd held all the advantages against marquez, including age
Again, you're resorting to extremes. Marquez was 141 rehydrated, yet Floyd had never been more than 149 rehydrated BEFORE their fight, no one knew he'd come over 144. Still, he payed JMM 600 G's for that, and rumors are that he was no heavier than 152.
Also, it's OK for Floyd to have the advantages against JMM because it was a comeback fight, a tuneup, and not for a title.
Another Hypothetical BS from mayweather fans LOL.. If he's too good then why he picked a lightweight???..
JMM did not actually called out Floyd like Hatton did but he wanted to fight Floyd because in his mind Floyd is the best. JMM is p4p #2 and is a beast, you make it seem like Floyd never fought a fight his size.

Floyd is so good at Welterweight that he has avoided them since 2006 when he fought the dude with 9 losses and 6 draws...
Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is 50/50. I swear that when Pacquiao does possibly get past Cotto, win or lose, Mayweather is gonna struggle. Pacquiao has the tools to beat Mayweather, can't understand why people choose to ignore this.
Yup. You are not the only one. For me, it's off-angle shots at great speed and volume that could spell the difference. Plus, IMO, the question of pbf's chin is still not answered because he is so good defensively. That will also be the case for pac as he was not chin-checked in his last 3 fights. The Cotto fight could answer some questions nagging me.
Floyd and his fans are just like what rappers refer to as studio gangsters. They talk about Floyd accomplishing shit, but it never happens. What happened to the quote, "You give me any fighter from 154 down and I'll beat em?" Where are these fighters on his resume? Where's Vernon Forrest, Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, and Miguel Cotto (when he was undefeated)? I think Cotto isn't the same fighter as before though.
ANY fighter, not EVERY fighter. Marquez, Oscar, Baldomir, Hatton, Judah, aren't these guys below 154? This is just what I was saying, the haters will always find someone else that he is "ducking". Even if he beat all those guys you'd talk about Berto or Collazo or some other fool like that.
i'm not blaming floyd. it's obvious that it's marquez responsibility, but it's also obvious that his natural weight class was 130, as he pointed out after the diaz fight
he built up muscle to try a jump to the 140's naturally, and he failed miserably. however, that was his best shot at having a chance
he had to go up at least 10 pounds (140 was the min. weight) north of his current natural weight class to meet with floyd. floyd had to go 1 pound (148) over his current natural weight class when he fought DLH
If his fight night weight for his 130 and 135 was the low 140s, he didn't have to go up an ounce. Before that fight, Floyd was under 150 in all of his bouts. That would amount to less than a 10 pound difference between the two, with Marquez at the same weight in which he looked good in. I hardly see that as a huge mismatch. Baldomir weighed 163 vs. Floyd, and Oscar was at 167. Floyd was 149 vs. Baldy and 148 vs. Oscar, a 14 and 19-pound difference, respectively.
That's not my logic at all, let him fight some of them or whatever good his talent is don't mean shit. this is all im gonna reply back to ya since ur arguments are always based on going against whatever people tell ya. so it is pointless to even say this
LOL isn't that what an argument is? I've yet to hear about an argument in which both parties agree...
we were discussing whether he challenged floyd or not, and that quote answer that question. regardless of the reasons behind it, cotto called out mayweather
but lets go back to 140 if you think that my quote is arum's opinion:
True, but the first article you quoted didn't show that, and you were saying it did. I wasn't making excuses for Floyd not fighting Cotto, I was just explaining why Cotto said what he did. That's great if he called him out, even you said you think he'd lose to Floyd, so who cares? It would be another win for Floyd and he'd get called "boring" again and get shit from everyone if he doesn't knock Cotto out. He can never win; the haters have their minds made up. They said they'd give him credit if he beat Oscar after giving up all the advantages, but that hasn't happened.
And about that thing you quoted, that might be what Cotto was saying at the time, but we all know Arum didn't Floyd to fight Cotto at 140, and Cotto himself didn't want to fight Floyd after he saw what he did to Gatti. The fight didn't happen for the very reason Cotto said "When the company says the time is right to make the fight, I’ll fight him." That means they NEVER thought it would be smart to put them together.

Well, Floyd is 40-0, so according to your "logic" that proves that talent alone DOES win fights.
He might not have fought Shane, Cotto, or whoever the haters choose to support as the "designated fighter to beat Floyd this year", but you don't get to be 40-0 by not fighting anyone.

Floyd is a very talented boxer, outstanding defense and great speed. but talent alone doesn't win fights. There's been PLENTY of fights where the better boxer has lost. Floyd fans need to understand that it means nothing to having the talent and saying Floyd would this floyd would that. He needs to actually do it for it to be taken into account.

That's Marquez' fault. Floyd went up a weight class to fight Oscar, but his weight stayed the same. If Marquez felt more comfortable at the low 140s, he should've stayed there, I said that all along. All he'd have to do was not dehydrate himself the day before the fight. This works because you don't put on weight that would slow you down, plus you get the added energy that comes with not having to drain yourself.

he may well beat everybody at 147 but he hasnt beaten any of todays top ten ranked welterweights.
don't worry, here you go:
Cotto Wants Mayweather To “Stop Making Excuses”
By Eric Thomas: In the latest boxing news, undefeated WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25 KOs) has called out WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (39-0, 25 KOs), saying to “stop making excuses” for not fighting him. As of now, Mayweather, 30, has a scheduled rematch with Oscar De La Hoya to take place on September 20th in Las Vegas. Depending on the outcome of the fight, it’s difficult to say when/if Mayweather will be interested in a bout with the unbeaten 27 year-old Cotto.
more on that same interview:
All he wanted was a money fight. He was set to fight Oscar after Margarito (after Floyd retired), so he was just upset that Floyd and Oscar ignored him because were going to make more money fighting each other than against him.
Also, knowing Cotto and Arum, Arum probably told him to say that just to get attention. Cotto is a robot with no opinions on anything, and Arum likes to stir up controversy to get attention.
