Does Floyds inability to make 144 jeopardize a fight vs pac???

I don't think Mayweather ever intended to make 144. He was training for 146 or 147. I think if he really had to make it, he could do it. Too much money in penalities if he was overweight.

He's the one moving up, from what 110 pounds? He's already moved up in weight enough. He's also the smaller fighter so if anyone wants to fight him he can make demands because he's also the main man in boxing right now. Manny isn't moving up from 110 ... he was fighting at 140 his last fight vs Hatton. the fact that Pac was once 110 .. not very relevant to today as Floyd started at 130 and just because he's the main man doesn't mean he should be able to push around demands. as when it comes to weight, it can seriously have negative effects on the fighters where things like ring size or glove type do not directly effect the fighters nearly as much.

I really think with Floyd's proven drawing power (especially with his last fight selling A mill) unless Pac/Cotto can get above the May/JMM bout I don't feel that 144 should even be a part of the negotiations .. as Freddy Roach went on record previously voucing for a catchweight vs Cotto, to be as low as possible im just saying, the Trainer of the Pound For Pound #1 fighter being so vocal makes his fighter come across as weak. why would you want to fight someone drained? Roach can push for this fight all he wants at a catchweight but I don't see why potentially the biggest fight of the year, should be as a catchweight especially when you consider Roach's intentions behind using the CW (catch wgt) in the first place. Many of Pacquiao's fans don't like the CW idea either. But, I say Floyd might agree to a 145 limit and will ask Team Pacqiuao to give up some of their advantages too. It should turn out as a win-win for both sides if the fight is to be made.

I agree. Freddie will push for a catch-weight, unfortunately. Now, in my opinion, if Floyd would have looked like crap against Marquez, I honestly believe Freddie would push for a fight with Floyd at the Welter limit and forgotten about catch-weights. Why? Manny looked comfortable and great at Welter. Then again, can't read Freddie's mind. but here's the real question ... lets it is Roach who wants it at 144 or 145 for the sake of argument if both camps were firm on the weight (Team Mayweather wants straight up Welter) where Team Pac, or whomever wants 144 would the bold in the above situation get to where its such a hostile situation that the fight doesn't happen? cuz in the past Roach has called Floyd an easy fight (prob pure shit talking) so for a so called "easy" fight, why would Roach need another handicap in the weight. **Plus if Pacquiao gets by Cotto, he'll be a Welterweight belt holder. why would a Champ (even if it is paper) need a weight handicap in his favor?

The percentage doesnt even have anything to do with Pac. People make it sound like Pac wouldnt take 40 to fight Floyd. He would take that all day. Its Arum who doesnt want to take it and Roach use to be like Pac but now he's more like Arum. The thing is though, Floyd is no dummy and there aint no way that he's fighting Pac for anything less than 55 with the numbers he has put up and he probably wouldnt fight for less than 60. I think Pac will cave because he knows 40 against Floyd is still way way way way more than he can make with anyone else. Floyd is the guy who cares about money, lives in expensive Vegas, and spends a ton. Pac lives in Manilla. He could live the rest of his life like a king even for just a million dollars let alone what he will make against Floyd. Arum may not want to cave but Pac will eventually make him. May vs Pac = Pac got past a fighter in Cotto who weighs more then Mayweather on fight night. So any catch weight under 145 makes no sense.

With the huge money at stake I can’t see Floyd tripping over the same stone twice, although I have seen stranger things. If he went over in weight I think Roach would pull the plug for obvious reasons/advantages Floyd had in the JMM fight. He wouldn’t want history to repeat itself on PAC and rightfully so. Peace.

As long as the fight is with Pacquiao Mayweather will not make more than Manny. Mayweather will be willing to split 50/50 because he knows he needs Pac and not the other way around. Floyd will accept that because or else he wont get the opportunity beat Manny and not live in his shadow.

Probally not. He would have to pay alot of money if he doesn't make the weight. Infact this might guarantee the fight will be fair, now that Mayweather cant come up with another excuse to not make the weight. I'm sure Roach wont allow Mayweather to come up to the fight that strong.

That's going to be the big problem. The percentage split. Neither of them is going to want 50-50. I think the fight will get made though. There is just too much money riding on this fight. (All of this is assuming Pac beats Cotto which I think is a 50-50 fight) Didn't Jones-Hopkins finally agree to 50-50 with the winner getting 60 if the fight ends before 12 rounds? That would be a nice trend to see in boxing for those "impossible" big fights that we as fans want to see, but can't be made because of money.
