To be honest i was suprise the PBF-JMM fight did so well, If they could sell that much whats the expectation for the Pac-Cotto fight??? If we can have boxing selling out surely it could be only good for the sport of boxing??
I was looking at 450-500K for the PBF-JMM fight and 1.2M for the Pac-cotto fight but with what the PBF-JMM fight did am sure the Pac-cotto fight would do better than the 1.2M that i was thinking before.
So what sort of numbers can a fight like that generate???
Since Cotto and Pacman both speak poor english and will have a crappy 24/7 because of it..Throw in that they are both boring people outside the ring. I dont think will do as well as JMM and Cotto
850k. I think the thoughts of Floyd coming back after so long made people want to see what they've been missing the last while, and that's why it broke a million.
Mayweather-Hatton did something like 950k if I remember. De La Hoya - Pac did 1.2 million. Can't see it beating those two to be honest, as great a match up as it is.
This has a lot of potential, Manny is probably the most famous boxer along with Mayweather and Cotto is very well known and has a great fan base. You also have to consider people will want to tune in and see how Manny looks and compare that to Mayweather's performance, over 1 million imo.
I would be more confident if Golden Boy was promoting it though, I think they have shown that when it comes to mega fights/events they are the best.
900k imo... no american fighters... and even though we as boxing fans can appreciate them.... the casual fan barely has heard about them, how often do we see either one interviewed on sportscenter? on wwe? music videos or anything main stream for that matter
I really hope it does over 1 million and I think it can, if it does over 1 million it will be the first time since 1999 that Boxing has two PPV's that do over 1 million in 1 year.
It will also be the first time that 2 non Americans do over 1 million on PPV in the US.
