Look, we all have our biases wether we like to admit them or not. We all have some guys we love and some guys not so much. Then there is some flat out hate and thats what this is coming to.
When the Floyd-JMM fight was made most people said that this fight would do around 600,000. That was the average for most people. However, very quickly this fight was being ripped. All the sales were being ripped and so many people on here, fans, media, Roach, Arum, and so on were saying how bad this fight is going to bomb. They said Floyd was stupid for fighting JMM and this fight will be lucky to do 400,000. You had a ton of people saying that Floyd only had big numbers because of what Oscar & Hatton did and he cant draw flies to shit on his own. They all said that this fight will prove how big of a PPV star he is and he's going to get owned by Pac in negotations after this fight bombs because Pac is the much bigger star. Even just days before the fight people were still clowning the numbers and ticket sales.
Now fast foward. I was watching Dan Rafel on ESPN before the fight and he said all the insiders are now saying that this fight could do Floyd-JMM numbers. Now some are even saying that its done a million or well over a mill. I made a thread like a month ago saying that if this fight did great numbers then people have to man up and give him his props and no one wants to do that. You cannot hate that much. There are alot of things that we can debate on here and argue about but this isnt one of them. It was black & white. We all said that this fight is on Floyd in terms of PPV sales because JMM has had some of the worst PPV numbers ever. Now look. Give the man his due. He clowned everyone on here, the media, Roach, Arum, and no one wants to admit it. He did it. No matter what you think about the man you have to own up to that.
I saw some threads saying that now all the PPV sales were because of JMM. The same JMM who hasnt ever sold anything even in big fights and this is coming from the same guys who said that its all on Floyd before the fight. I saw some guys just write that Floyd didnt do this on his own. Yet when Floyd fans would say that about the Floyd-Oscar fight, people would clown and say that it was all Oscar even though they were setting records. I said the same about Floyd-Hatton since no one in the US knew Hatton but now you guys are trying to flip it. Everything that happeneds you guys try to flip it in your favor. Again, some things are debatable but you cant debate this at all. JMM made more in this fight then basicaly his whole career combined and he sold more in this fight then basicaly his whole career combined. Floyd has probably more than doubled the numbers of Pac against Oscar, Hatton, and JMM. You cant dispute Floyd's drawing power. This fight was prime time on ESPN despite everyone ripping it non stop and calling it a joke fight. Floyd is the man right now when it comes to PPV. Atleast man up and admit that. He's doing it and doing it big
Mayweather is the current No.1 PPV attraction in the sport of boxing. No doubt about that. I'm happy for him and I dislike all the PBF haters.
Fact: Your No.1 PPV attraction was not able to attract..instead repel all boxing fan! and that is a fact!
i didn't read mr. war and peace's post but is he talking about his respect FOR people or respect FROM people?
not sure...but i thought he was referring to people claiming fmj is a draw .... cash cow , etc ... but i think ... NOT....

I am a Floyd fan, but I did not think this fight would do more than 400,000 buys, not because of Floyd, but because of Marquez. I was wrong. You made some excellent points and I am very proud of the numbers in this fight.
Anytime there is an event involving Mayweather, people always engage in revisionist history after the event. Haters said that he would get beaten by Baldomir, and KO'd by Oscar and Hatton. They said this fight would be a bust. Afterwards, everyone was overrated, over the hill or too small or they blamed the referee. With Oscar/Pac and Hatton/Pac, the lower numbers were due to the recession. In this case, the PPV success was due to Marquez.
Lies, revisisions and hate!! They all play a role when it comes to Mayweather.
Then he should have got the bigger purse, but he didn't....name a fight where the attraction got the lesser purse?
By the way, the fight still might have done less than 600k, I mean it could have done more... but don't be swayed by the reports yet, they are reports and can be wrong... everyone should wait for the proper numbers before jumping to conclusions.
I agree. Reports are just reports and I dont think people should be posting alot of them espicaly when they all seem to be coming from the same guy in Kevin Iole who has been partial to Floyd in the past. Still, Dan Rafael said he was hearing the same right before the fight also and really to me, if its 600,000 then thats a huge success because people were clowning this fight and Floyd's drawing power bad, real bad. People may have said 6 initaly but very quickly everyone started acting like it wouldnt do anything, he would be lucky to do 4, and he's going to lose out on so much money after what he guranteed JMM and how much he has to pay for stuff.

Couldn't care less about PPV numbers or how much money a fighter makes (obviously I don't want anyone to retire broke, but you get what I mean.) I watch boxing for the fights.
I hear that! Mayweather can sell a ticket, great. its not like it has a remote effect on any of your lives, you aint makin no more money!!
I really only care about quality fights rather than how much he makes because I dont handle his money.
I just want the self proclaimed P4P fighter at WW to actually fight a top WW
well if thats how you feel then thats cool and I respect that but you know as well as I do that there were a ton of people who did care and they talked about it negatively non stop. They should own up to that because thats a different thing then the fight itself. Its more about the person. Someone is going to win & lose a fight but if you say that no one cares about this guy and he cant sell anything but then he goes out there and puts up big numbers then I think someone has to aknowledge that and give him credit no matter what you thought before the fight. If you never cared then it doesnt matter but if you did care enough to trash him pre fight then admit you were wrong after the fight. or atleast just dont talk about it but its sad when people are actually talking and making excuses why it did sell and how it wasnt because of Floyd. That sounds petty & desperate
Nah man you dont get it. I honestly dont care. Im not saying it in a hostile way. I really mean that. I write my opinion and leave it. Most of the times if you notice, I wont even respond in my own thread. Ill write it and never look at it again wether it gets 0 replies or 50. I took a computer/typing classes in school so I can type a million words a minute and always have alot to say. I think people think I sit here and take 4 hours to write something but I can do it in a minute. Its not only on here. Its like my trademark on alot of sites. Im known for my long post and people know that I dont get upset if no one reads what I wrote. Its just something I wrote to get my opinion out there, plain & simple
Cool, fair enough. :fing02:
Listen mate, its nothing personal... I mean sometimes I read what you say and sometimes I don't... and sometimes when I do read it I think you make a good point, but what I am saying is... you are here to talk Boxing right? So I am saying if your posts are a little shorter more people would read them and you would get more people replying, and you would be able to talk about the stuff you wanna talk about more... if you get what I mean?

There are two types of people who won't accept facts when faced with overwhelming, indisputable evidence:
1. Children
2, Dimwits
DLT, I have to ask you: why do you even care what either group above thinks? This is your time to bask in the success for the sport. Not the success of your fighter, because you have always know that Floyd is both the best fighter and the bigger draw in the sport. You should bask in the success that boxing enjoyed. An entertaining fight, a display of brilliance, and an ass-whipping thrown to Dana White and UFC.
After Saturday night, MORE doors opened because people are speculating on future fights. Great for the sport.
why cant I do both? I do both but we all know that right now that there is boxing and then there is Mayweather and I dont mean that in a fan way, I mean literaly. 80% of the talk in boxing is basicaly about, Floyd good or bad. I love boxing and I will always support it over the UFC and want all boxing fights to do well but the fact is that for some strange reason there are alot of people who actually want Floyd to fail which I think is dumb. Wanting him to lose a fight is one thing but wanting a boxing match not to do numbers and then not giving someone credit when it does is just plain wrong to me. Even the media. How many negative articles was there about it before the fight but how many cash cow articles will you here after the fight? None of those media guys will write about that part of it
I know what I do and I always say the same thing in that regard. I always say that I let my opinion be known and I put it out there. If you dont read it then I dont get upset at all. Truthfully I dont read most long things either. You never see me bump my threads or anything. If you want to read it then fine but if not then thats fine also
