Mayweather fans are going to back him up to the end, I'm just tired of casual fans talking about UFC is taking over because it's more exciting then boxing, I have not talked to 1 casual fan that has said that they enjoyed the fight it has been nothing but negative shit talking and that gets under my skin because I LOVE boxing. At the end of the day the sweet science of boxing has been around since day one but fightes like robinson, leonard, medrick taylor, Jones and ali..... were masters of the hit and dont get hit style but the diffrence with them and Mayweather was that they took more risks and were more flashyer, AKA more exciting.
yeah i agree......

I mean unless you are a die hard fan of the sweet science, you probably found that fight.... far from exciting.
And unless you haven't seen a relevant boxing fight in the last 5 years.. you probably knew what you were getting with Floyd Mayweather.
So no.
i think a lot of the causal boxing fans are really impressed by watching mayweather slip/block nearly every punch.
serious boxing fans can say what they want about marquez's speed and reflexes being hindered by moving up in weight, but most casual fans don't think about things like that.
I have often been alone in admiring good boxing reguardless of the bright lights and big names. This past weekend was way different. I sat to watch the fight with a couple of friends and my sister who is the most casual type of fan. This was only her second time seeing Mayweather. She was just as impressed as I was with what seemed close to a perfect boxing exibition. I dont think we give the casual fan enough credit. This level of skill will be marveled by all fans. It automatically drew the most important question that a casual fan can have,"Who is he fighting next?". At this point May cant lose(monetarily) and neither can boxing as a whole.
good post. enjoy the green.
THE FIGHT SUCKED!!!! And i clearly know the sport of boxing!!!! It can be said whoever thinks this fight was great is a idiot and clearly knows nothing about the sport.
Will i watch or buy a fight with Floyd in it...depends on who he fights...Pac or Mosley yes. Anyone else FUK NO!!! Why pay to see him duck! I will only Pay to support SSM or PAC. If SSM vs Berto was on PPV id Pay to see it over SAY Floyd vs BERTO! You yourself even said you were not impressed on one of your post!
Your posts have provided overwhelming evidence that you know very little about the sport of boxing, have some odd personal vendetta against Floyd Mayweather, and are around the age of 16-17 (or at least that level of maturity). The mantra of boxing and the sweet science is "hit and not get hit" and Floyd did one of the best versions of that I have ever seen. Keeping a HOF fighter under 10 punches landed per round for 8 rounds is unbelivable.
I never said I was not impressed with Floyd performance. He was fantastic.
this thread will EASILY to 600 views, 150 posts...FACT.
What is it with you... are you actually keeping tabs on how many views a Floyd thread is getting?

Excellent post, could have said it better myself.

It was OK. I would not be surprised if some casual fans found it somewhat lacking in excitement for the simple reason that my gf ignored it even though she was in the same room. She never normally does this. She also said Floyd is a bully. LOL.

It was a definite black eye on the sport...If Mayweather couldn't sell then ,he surely wont now after that fight. They can call it what they want...but any normal fan of boxing couldn't find that fight intriguing to watch.
I disagree. A black eye for the sport is the inactivity of mainstream boxers. Any Floyd Fight is better than not fighting at all. Floyd 1 fight in 21 months, Bernard 0 fight in 15 months, Shane 0 fight in 11 months, Pavlik 1 fight in 15 months. I was there live and I was screaming at FLoyd to KO him for his Legacy but the truth be told Floyd isn't an aggresive boxer he is a master technision of the sport.
Anyone who says that fight "sucked" clearly knows nothing about boxing. I can't blame you for not wanting to watch a fight with those people again, but dont believe that they will never order a Mayweather fight again. Anyone who ordered this will not be able to resist ordering Floyd v Pac.
nah bro I know they wont ever order another floyd fight
they ordered it for only 2 reasons
1. they wanted me to go over and
2. a mexican was fighting
I think fans, if nothing else, will appreciate and understand how talented FMJ is.
Yea, that's it exactly it. If anything it displayed to the casual fan how skillful Mayweather actually is...its a precursor to hype surrounding a Pacman vs Mayweather bout.
Everyone knows about Pacman with all the media craz behind him...Pacman - Mayweather will do amazing numbers.
...only problem is, can Pacman get by Cotto?
I didnt say ALL of them dont... but most casual fans want to see a FIGHT.

Reed I think it is a bad thing for the following
1. that means that a lot of casual fans watched a fight that in most peoples eyes was not entertaing and one sided
2. for those fans who were on the fence between UFC and boxing this just pushed them over to UFC.
3. THe casual fans are the ones that generat the money for the sport and they are going to be turned off on buying another mayweather fight
I saw the fight with my girls family and they are all super super casual fans. They thought the fight was shit and they thought mayweather was a ussy for picking on a smaller slower guy. They said they would neer order another Mayweather fight. I had no influence on what they said I was very interested how they viewed it.
On a side note Reed
I will never watch another big fight with Casual fans
EVER!
they have a 60 inch plasma and surround sound
but I had to sit 4 feet away from the tv so I could hear?
WTF???

yeah theyre called casual fans and they make up 80% of the PPV numbers, which is.... why its important.
Who says casual fans do not appreciate a boxing masterclass?
I see what you are saying, but no.
If nothing else, the viewers saw how damn GOOD Floyd is, which is very important when he faces Pac. It will be the two best fighters in the sport going head to head.
The fight was not boring, it was a boxing masterclass, and people who do not understand that are the types of fans who do not appreciate the sweet science.

Could it actually be a bad thing for a million+ people to have ordered Floyd-Marquez? | BoxingScene Community
