he got a hugely positive response at the bar that was showing Mayweather-Marquez, and other people that talk about him are really interested in his fights and most of them want him to remain unbeaten.
well ok, Ive been on boxingscene long enough to hear the millions of reasons why so many people dislike him...but its just kind of odd that this site is so largely anti Mayweather when all the casual fans really seem to like him.
Truth is, if Mayweather takes on Pacquiao next. That would only mean Pacquiao beat Cotto, Pacquiao would have already established himself as a WW.
what do you think his next three fights are honestly? I think he fights mosley then winner of cotton and pactard, but not sure about the third. Maybe the loser of pactard and cotton.

Thats a good point. But that is also a huge if. Idk why but I think Cotto is gonna win and real boxing fans will actually be happy to see Pacquiao where he belongs (135-140) Maybe even a trilogy of a Marquez fight :fingersx:. Reason I disagree with Floyd, He elbows a lot man. It pisses me off that people dont note that enough and he already had plenty of advantages over Marquez and still wanted to have a large weight advantage. Truth is Floyd takes all the hatred on purpose because it helps him generate money.
Alot of people on this forum take boxing way too personally.
They do not understand that the sport, and its fighters, are bigger than they are.
cause mayweather got a rap label.
Default How come people hate Mayweather on here so much?
He talks much more than he actually DOES. Even if he is the favorite, he still hasn't actually fought many of the contenders in or around his weight that want a fight. On top of that, instead of backing up his words by giving fans the fights they want to see, he bashes and discredits other fighter's resumes instead.
well, Im sure it varies from person to person.
From the people Ive met, almost everyone really likes Floyd.
maybe its just the nature of the internet for everyone on it to hate and overreact to everything.
Its because "Losers hate Winners"
Remember I told you that!!!
Part of the hate for Floyd could just be part of watching sports. As sports fans, we sometimes have certain teams or players we love to hate. People get a kick out of talking shit about someone they don't like. It's entertainment for them.
But Mayweather's antics really don't help him win popularity contests (at least around here). The dude is egotistical to the point that sometimes you just get turned off hearing him talk about all the riches he's got. The act is really old.
Then there's the notion that Floyd is waste of talent. A Sugar Ray Leonard with no heart. The ducking accusations are there for a reason. Like the old saying goes, "If you're going to talk the talk, then walk the walk."
Plus, he's told you his agenda: to make money. That's it. Every boxer should make money to fight, but FMJ spends more energy finding easy pay days than he does finding worthy opponents. It's really frustrating to think one of the greatest fighters ever didn't challenge themselves like his predecessors before him. We as sports fans get a kick out of athletes accomplishing great things, testing themselves, overcoming adversity, striving to be the best because those are qualities most people admire.
People who say "they hate Floyd" are crazy. I find it hard to believe you hate someone that you don't know personally. Rather, they hate or dislike the way Floyd portrays himself in the media. While I'm annoyed and dislike his media personality, I don't let that alter my view of him as a fighter, like some do.
finally some one gets it.
i don't hate floyd.
i critize him, but this fourm cant differiante (spelling?) between critizim and hate. therefore you got the stans calling everyone who got something bad to say a "hater" and the actul haters to call someone who likes floyd a "stan" or nuthugger.
i swear boxing fans can't accpet opnions...-__-

Because he claims hes the best, whe he hasnt fought the best, duh!
This board represents about the top 5% of boxing fans, and the top 1% of mainstream/casual fans. We are the type of fans that know how much a boxer owes to JPMorgan Chase. We know boxers' wives names.
To the casual fan, floyd is a recognizable face, and a great boxer. he is "a name". The guy from DWTS, WWE and the AT&T commercial. Even to the hip-hop community, his videos are on WSHH. The casual fan doesn't have the jealousy and hatred of the average NSB poster.
The average sports fan hears about michael vick, pete rose, Plaxico Burress, pacman jones, etc. They don't associate Floyd with that kind of negativity.
This is so true it needed a bump.

Well said. That is the undeniable truth no matter how they try to spin it.
To be fair though, Floyd's next choice of opponents will determine how serious he is to regain his throne and status.
you are a liar i was playing poker and all the guys near my table hate him.. these are casual white people.. they all criticized him for fight marquez making him move 2 weights..
and yes casual fans know that.. they read the news

I dont hate FLOYD. I respect him and his skills which are amazing. My thing about Floyd is that after the 2nd Castillo fight up until the Oscar fight, the level of competition and fights he chose to accept are not lb 4 lb material.
No doubting his skills but I doubt his desire to seek the fighters and challenges that hardcore fans want. No mistake about it, Floyd has been selective in opponents but that does not mean that he deserves to be disrespected.
man that fight in your sig is so entertaining i absolutely love watching that fight.

I know that, you know that. But it's late, and I didn't want to have to argue about it with certain posters tonight.
Even though I believe Floyd is back to take on top WW's, and/or Pac, this is a pretty solid response.
