floyd potshotted and didn't even throw many combos at all.
yeah, he didn't need to do it to win, but he would've ended the fight earlier if he just let his hands go.
but like I said... potshotter!
Here is the question I have.. if Floyd is a potshotter (I'm not saying he is or he isn't). Then why has no one come up with a way to defeat this style and further more end his win streak?
and further more if you guys think Cotto would beat floyd you are sadly mistaken.. Potshot or not floyd would destroy Cotto with his speed and Accuracy. Cotto takes too many shots and Floyd is the one that would give him all he could take and in turn he would win every round. So keep dreaming of your Cotto defeating Floyd.. it would never happen!!
Well, yea.
Considering Floyd has no intentions of ever getting in the ring with him,
what else do you expect?

Bernard Hopkins would like a word with you.
Thats a fair opinion.
I think Bernard does great things in the ring as well but I don't think he has the array for skills that Mayweather possesses. That is just my opinion though. Obviously it is just whatever appeals to each individual, I just thought that was pretty impressive the other night.
I acknowledge the weight issues and that JMM was well above his best weight in there, but the skill, speed, ring generalship Mayweather showed in there was incredible. After being out of the ring for almost 2 years - that is pretty impressive in my view.
Obviously you are free to believe what you want and I know you despise the man, but IMO it was a great display.
There is no other fighter in the world right now that could even come close to displaying that array of skill in the ring right now.

The more the haters post the more they show how little they know about boxing, you know the art of hitting without getting hit or as Mosely's corner put it "swim without getting wet". What's wrong with pot shoting?
Whats really to appreciate?
He beat a much smaller fighter after coming in overweight.
So much for Floyd being the consummate professional.
You guys are acting like he just beat Miguel Cotto at 147, 12 rounds to zero.

I agree with you for once.
People need to stop bitching and acknowledge the man's skill. It is pretty rare that you get to see an ATG fighter put on an absolute precision clinic against a top-rated fighter. People should just sit back and appreciate it rather than moaning.

Who did you tell? And he really didnt potshot in this fight. And what is wrong with potshotting. Pot shotting is what he did in the Baldomir fight, he didnt do that in this fight. Boxing is hit and not get hit, nothing wrong if he did potshot.

again, I didnt even see the fight but it sounds like that was the case. Its sad for me because I thought the whole time that he only fought that way because it was against huge guys but now thats just him. I wonder if its just a WW thing or what? The funny thing is that most think that if he pot shots then it may look like a punk but no one will beat him that way. I actually think the opposite. I think it makes him much easier to beat and now I would really worry if he fights a truly big & strong WW. Mosley looked much bigger than him when they were side by side in the post fight presser. I have a hard time seeing him pot shot a Mosley, Cotto, or Margarito to victory. Either way it will probably be a close fight when I think he may could skool them if he lets his hands go. People talk about the size advantage he had over JMM but I honestly dont see much difference between that and the size disadvantage he has against Mosley the other WW's. I was seriously shocked when I saw them in street clothes because Mosley looked clearly wider, thicker, and more powerful. I know those guys look at Floyd and think that they would break him in half.
I wonder what turned Floyd into a pot shotter. I actually think it may have been a sparring thing that backfired. I always think about when they brought in huge punchers who were big guys like Jantuah. I think they figured that if he sparred with Kofi on the regular and took his punch then no guys at the lower weights would even come close to hurting him but I think the flipe side was that he was so big and hit so hard that Floyd probably started pot shotting him in sparring alot and it has carried over to his fighting. I could be wrong but Ive always wondered about that
I don't think that floyd beats any top welterweight as easy as he beat the brave Marquez!!Mosley & Cotto will make floyd fight, potshoting his way to a 12 round win will be a tall order against fighters his size who are used to speed!!
If he knocks JMM out the Pac fight isnt as marketable, therefore he carried him for 12 rounds, smart move by Floyd.
that doesn't mean he's not a potshotter LIKE I TOLD YA'LL.
I was actually impressed with his jab. He used it to the body like he always does but he used it up top very often early in the fight. I think just that addition makes a game plan for beating Mayweather a bit more complicated.
