and to me the interview made the most impression. While listening to Andre after giving his post fight comments, I couldn't help but to notice how engaging and friendly Andre came off when speaking. He seems like the sort of guy you want to root for regardless if his talent may or may not fail him. As I continue to listen to Andre, it suddenly hit me that I actually met and hung out with him at a weigh-in in Memphis when he fought on my under card, and then too he was down to earth and cool as hell. I couldn't believe I actually forgot the entire ordeal. It must have been the vodka that night, or the blows to the head. But anyway, what do you guys think of Andre Ward? Obviously, he's going to have his hands full with Kessler, but what do you guys think of Andre in particular?
Any chance our friend Snuff is Buddy McGirt? IIRC he was in Tarver's corner that night and is at least a 2x champ...
Either way, I agree Andre Ward comes off as a true gentleman and I wish him well in the tourney... against everyone except Taylor, of course.
I would like to think if he gets by Kessler then he would be a sure shot to win the entire tournament. However, that tournament is packed with some solid pros. There will most certainly be style clashes where Andre may not be able to mesh well with and overcome.
It's highly likely that even the tournament winner has a loss on his record when it's over. There's no easy fights out there.
LMAO at the boxingscene detectives at work here :cop:
Topic: In the interviews I've heard with Ward he comes round as a very nice guy with a good belief in himself. Not bigheaded at all. Just confident. I don't like his references to God all the time though, but that's just me.
Andre Ward, great guy, very religous, feels he's blessed by the lord. He wasn't always great guy, dude is an ex-con from early parts of his life, a few street fights happen growin up in the Town. Kessler gonna be a tough opponent but hey, Dre is gonna give him a fight. I don't know if Dre can keep up with his output like Calzaghe but Ward is gonna hit him harder then Calzaghe did, mos def.

I life Andre Ward. He's a good fighter. I'm not sure if he'll beat Kessler. He hasn't fought at the elite level yet, so it's hard to tell his true potential.
Who are you?
It sucks he is going to lose to Kessler because I really like Ward and think he is one hell of a talent. This is an ENORMOUS step up in comp though.
I agree, Its a huge step up for him. If he comes out victorious, sky will be the limit for him.

Once again, I never said I was a Paul Williams victim. Obviously, I said Verno Phillips is a Paul Williams victim in a previous post because its a fact that he is.
Interesting, so where did you guys get that bit about him being a Paul Williams victim then?
Thats what Im saying even though this is a Andre Ward thread. But I would like to know where that came from too.
I have to say, you guys are hilarious. But if you must know, then I will say, Paul Williams never beat, whipped, or even stepped in the same ring as me. Andre Ward is a good dude, why we cant leave it at that?
How did this go from more or less being an appreciation thread for Andre Ward's character to guessing who I am? For that, I would have just started a thread saying, "Guess Who I am." And Greg Leon guys? Please, that dude(not that I know him, but heard about him)and Andre Ward shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence together. Once again, Andre Ward is a great human being, hopefully he can one day be as Great as a fighter.
Andre Ward is a class act, no doubt. In all his interviews he comes across as very mature and respectful.
That pretty much sums it up right there. Andre always comes across very respectful and seems to be a class act.
Yeah, he's definitely a cool cat. Hopefully he has something extra then just being cool, because he going to need a lot more then that to defeat the likes of Kessler. I'll be rooting for him nonetheless.
