He couldnt make it to 144 without it hurting him.
Why else would he change the weight practically the night before the weigh in from 144 to a regular 147 fight?
I just read he gave away 600000 bucks because of the weigh in problem.
thats a fair amount of cash. I dont think he was planning it all along.
I actually think its good news for Marquez...Floyd hasnt really been on top of things lately, has he? plus he might be a little weight drained, who knows?
Smartest man in boxing strikes again. No title on the line and just a couple of hundred thousand Gs penalty. Smart move. He not only cherrypicked JMM, he's also taking away any advantages that JMM might have. Smartest mofo in boxing.
I used to think that Floyd could still fight at 140 but I guess I was wrong. He really has added some serious muscle in the past few years, he looked so different at the lower weights than he does now. Shedding muscle, as we well know, isn't a great idea for a fighter. Looking at the pics of the weigh-in, I can't see him shedding anything more unless it's muscle, so I guess that's why he didn't bother.
Still they hit him where it hurts, giving extra money to Marquez when his whole life seems to be about money probably bothered him a bit.
Im not saying that didnt happen...but how do you know that was the scenario?
I don't. it's speculation.
I think he might have been trying to make the weight, but hit a wall, and decided to stop trying
this is possible too.
He picks a small opponent and blows off making the weight, now he's getting worried that pee pee boy might rock him so he pulls this, I won't be surprised if he does come in tomorrow weighing 155. Mayweather is making a joke of himself.
floyd never intended to make 144 lbs. floyd planned to come in at 147 lbs all along. that's why he was being ambiguous about the catchweight in the beginning.

Who gives a shit about 3 lbs? Marquez knew he was the smaller guy all along. Catchweights are ruining boxing anyway. Floyd will beat Marquez's ass at ANY weight all day long and twice on Sundays.

They are both welter weights. 141-147.
The catchweight at 144 was used as a clause in their agreement yo make the fight, and if Floyd couldn't make it then he would pay Marquez a fine, is all.
I get that, but the surprising thing is that Floyd really couldnt make the weight.
he might really have been weight drained at those recent press conferences where some people said he looked tired.
He must have gained weight naturally over the last 2 years

I think Mayweather really was weight drained in those pictures that people were talking about.
thats why he decided to pay off Golden Boy/Marquez a day or so before the fight so he could fix himself up.
