The other neighbors might hear about the incident as well and request that the accused move to another town or vandalize his/her house because of what they heard. You CAN get into big trouble for running off at the mouth if you say the wrong things. This kind of crazy stuff happens all the time Claiming someone is a pedophile is different. That would fall into the 'slander per se' category. All that person has to do is prove that the statements were made, not that the statements caused any damage (the statements are the damage). In this case Pacquiao has to prove that Mayweather said it with malicious intent (actual malice) or with reckless disregard for the truth. That's pretty hard to do. Also, in the U.S. opinion is 100% protected under the 1st amendment, so that would be another obstacle.
