sucks that this fight most likely won't happen, it was gonna be in the undercard of Cotto/Pacquiao, would've been a hellacious fight.
WBC world lightweight champion Edwin “El Inca” Valero (25-0, 25 KOs) of Venezuela has been denied the renewal of his work visa to be able to fight in the United States. “I have been a victim of discrimination by a situation that is clearly political,” stated Valero, who has often showed his admiration and friendship toward Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. He was hoping to defend his world title against WBC super featherweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto on Top Rank’s November 14 super card in Las Vegas featuring Manny Pacquiao vs Migiel Cotto. Valero will now instead defend his WBC belt on December 12 at El Nuevo Circo in Caracas, Venezuela. “Nobody will stop the career of Edwin Valero,” he added. “Please allow me to fight in the U.S., as I do in Venezuela, Europe or Asia. I am the champion and I have enough sporting merit fight anywhere in the world.”
true he leaves his chin open, but do you think Soto punches harder than Pitalua?? In my opinion no, and you saw what Pitalua did to that guy in his last fight, he blasted him viciously, and Valero was eating up Pitalua's punches with his chin wide open
in my opinion the fight could go either way, Valero has concussive power in his punches, and it'll help his confidence knowing he is unbeaten, the situation could be political, since Valero is close to Hugo Chavez, the dictator of Venezuela, who is an enemy of the U.S. and sides with Iran.
Arum is screwing Soto over big time. When is he going to get him a big fight? Rocky Martinez, Robert Guerrero, and Edwin Valero are some bitches that talk like they want to fight him, but run the other direction. Valero already turned down a big payday with Prescott, and he's half the fighter that Soto is. I don't think he would've fought Soto even if he got the approval and a visa. Unfortunately the big names have moved up.
