any lawyers here? i have a question, Can Floyd Sr's statements about Pac using steroids be considered libelous, defamatory or whatever lawyers call it? Can Floyd Sr be sued for that?
Libel is written.
Slander is spoken.
Pac's got a slander suit for defamation. Unless Sr. also wrote about it, he has no libel suit.
yeah i didn't know libel is written until i made the thread, i didn't know what term or word to use, so i put "libel" "defamatory" and "whatever" ha ha!

i wasn't sure what the correct term was coz i aint a lawyer, so i put "defamatory", "libel", "whatever" they can use to Sue Sr.
Libel is in writing, and slander is spoken.
The short answer is NO.
Floyd Sr said "In my honest opinion, I believe..."
That means the statement is not slanderous. Slander is a defamatory statement without factual basis. Mayweather did not present it as fact. He presented it as his opinion.

–noun
1. defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.
2. a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.
3. Law. defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
by definition of Slander, Sr. did in fact make a malicious, false and defamatory statement.
This is what you don't understand. Floyd Sr is a PROMINENT figure in the world of boxing. His words carry weight and without any actual FACT, regardless of whether it is opinion or not, he made a statement that is malicious, false and defamatory. He basically called Pacquiao a CHEATER.
If Roach can prove that what senior said can hurt Pacquiao's name AND business which being associated with steroids can, then they have a case.
exactly!! ha ha!

Yea Im a lawyer, and Sr. never made the statement that Pac is on roids, but you could be found for a crime in saying he did.
