he caught zab with a clean shot that dazed him but if you watch the fight before that punch zab was taking it to tszyu with ease and then he got sloppy and got caught
Not really. Judah landed a beautiful uppercut in the first but once Tszyu fully recovered he just took over. He had Judah running (literally) by the end of the first and it continued throughout the second until Zab ate that right hand.
Tszyu in his prime was a ferocious fighter...I don't care what anyone on here says, no one would have had an easy night against him, in his prime he was fast handed and hit like a middleweight. I will quite happily admit that a prime tszyu would have disposed of hatton in a few rounds and I am a big hatton fan, he was not shot when hatton fought him, but way past it...it was a great peace of timing and match making and even then it was a dangerous fight. By that time tszyu had had major back and shoulder injuries, and his inactivity clearly cost him.
In my time I believe floyd, oscar, and shane would have beat a prime version of tszyu, and in floyd's case I believe tszyu would have had a legitimate ko chance, but after that I struggle to come up with anyone that beats him at 140. Him and cotto would have been a great fight but again I favour tszyu at 140. I think he would beat all the guys at 140 right now with bradley the only real threat to him, and when you consider how hot the division is...that is saying something. I think his win over judah was probably his best, although the mitchell wins I would put on the same level, sharmba mitchell was underrated...he was very good the first time they fought but tszyu started to figure him out and started to beat him up before mitchell pulled out through injury.
why do people think floyd "calling people out" wwe style means he wants to fight them? it's been proven he doesn't. it's just a publicity stunt. he "called out" cotto then said cotto wasn't a ceo and lived too far away in puerto rico. he "called out" pac then tried to get out of the fight with crazy drug testing and when that didn't work it was vacation time. he never would have fought tsyzu and that is obvious cause he kept fighting bums and fought 2 eliminators just to fight gatti.
Would probably have to be Zab. He was the latest yank Golden boy. They were calling him "Sweet Pea with Power" :lol1:
But that all gets forgotten now of course.
Tszyu never tried to make the fight.
Here is Floyd calling out Tszyu:

Here it is again. Floyd fans....get over it:
Mayweather and the 5 Bums
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After seeing the incredible allegations of a few Mayweatherites here alleging that the great Jr. Welter Weight Champ Kostya Tszyu ran from Floyd Mayweather, Jr., I was inspired to set the record straight. My findings:
After a truly impressive campaign at 130, Floyd moved to 135 in 2002. The problem began here and it's name was Jose Luis Castillo. After losing to Castillo on everybody's card but the judges' in the first fight, Mayweather used his defensive skills to salvage his reputation in the rematch. After that scare, Mayweather then proceeded to call on the hapless Lovemore N'dou. N'dou unexpectedly proved a stiff test, but Floyd passed it. Bum number one was conquered. Who would the self proclaimed greatest fight next? We were immediately deflated. Sosa was served up like a cold fish on April 19, 2003.
Fully in stride now, Mayweather moved up to Jr. Welter (140), where hall of famer Kostya Tszyu reigned supreme. Instead of calling on Tszyu, Floyd proceeded to feed on a steady diet of bums. On May 22, 2004, it was Demarcus Corley. On January 22, 2005, it was Henry Bruseles. And, on June 25, 2005, Floyd dismantled the last of the 5 bums, the washed up warrior, Arturo Gatti. 5 bums and no Tszyu.
Tszyu fought in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He was top ten p4p in all those years. He began that period of time as the Jr. Welter Weight unified undisputed champion (the first to do it in 30 years). During the mid portion of that period he held two titles, and finally lost the IBF title to Ricky Hatton in June 2005. He retired after that fight at age 36. During this period, there were no serious inquiries from the Floyd camp about a fight against Tszyu. Cheap talk, no walk.
After initially posting my opinion that it was Floyd that ran, not Tszyu, I became the subject of a veritable deluge of outrage, criticism, and lewd (but somewhat entertaining) invective by certain Mayweatherites on this site. I want to thank each and every foul mouthed one of you. You inspired me to PROVE my opinion with evidence, evidence of which you said was non-existent. Mr. Dios Dominicano and his gang maintain that Tszyu never, I repeat NEVER, made one single statement indicating his desire to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. and thus somehow "ran" from Floyd.
Exhibit #1: KOSTYA TSZYU DENIES DEAL TO FIGHT HATTON
According to a recent report by GRANTLEE KIEZA, Kostya Tszyu has again confirmed there is no deal to fight hard-hitting Englishman Ricky Hatton for $5million. Two weeks ago Tszyu told The Daily Telegraph exclusively that he wasn't fighting Hatton on March 5 in Manchester as the British press had announced and was forced to repeat his position yesterday after reports out of England saying a deal had been made.
Before heading off to his native Russia to collect a major award from President Vladimir Putin, Tszyu said yesterday: "I am not fighting Ricky Hatton in Manchester anytime soon.
"I can't believe Hatton's promoter is still saying I am fighting him because there has been no deal made.
"Right now I am having a holiday for a few weeks and just enjoying time with my wife and kids. When it is time to fight again we will see who is on offer. But I promised my family I would not be training over Christmas so I will certainly not be fighting again by March."
When told that Warren said he had a verbal agreement with Tszyu's American-based promoter Vlad Warton, Tszyu smiled and said: "I decide who I fight, no one else."
Tszyu said he was far more interested in an offer of $10.5 million from American promoter Murad Muhammad to fight WBC champion Arturo Gatti and former world junior-lightweight and lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather.
"I want to fight them both," Tszyu said. "They mean a lot more on the world scene than Ricky Hatton."

Exhibit #2: KOSTYA TSZYU INTERVIEW
Scoop: Comment on fighting Floyd Mayweather...
Kostya Tszyu: "It would be a great fight. I fought his uncle (Roger-W 12 in '95 in Newcastle, Australia) who's training him now. It would be good to fight him too. I remember after Olympic Games ('96) we were in same room as Bob Arum, he just started his career. I already was world champion. It would be a good, good matchup. If the short time will be able to produce this match, it will be a great fight."

ARGUMENT:
Just as I always said, Tszyu was always open to any top contender at 140, ESPECIALLY Floyd. Floyd simply did not want any piece of Tszyu. Who knows, maybe uncle Roger didn't like the idea?
You will note that Tszyu destroyed Sharmba Mitchell (4 knockdowns and KO in the 3rd) on November 6, 2004. Tszyu remained unsigned and available to take a fight with Floyd for roughly two months after that fight. Mayweather didn't sign to fight Gatti until after January 30, 2005.
Unfortunately for boxing, DURING THIS TIME PERIOD Floyd never muttered a word. Instead of going after one of the greatest 140 champions of modern times, Floyd signed to fight the fifth installment in our gallery of bums, Arturo Gatti. There was no mention of Tszyu. There were no inquiries about getting the fight. There was nothing but a resounding wall of silence. Result? Tszyu signed to fight Ricky Hatton, and the rest is history.
This is evidence. Floyd can talk it up all he wants AFTER the fact. It doesn't matter. The self proclaimed "greatest of all time" skipped out on a real fight of historical proportions against the man.
I present to you, "The Theory of the 5 Bums."

Floyd didn't even rip Zab apart! Kostya was stronger physically than Gayweather and will always be a better boxer as well.
wow, this is just ABSURD. I think we have an Aussie among us lol
Exactly. Floyd would have ripped Tszyu apart, not much different from what he did to Gatti.
Tszyu was just a media creation. The media has certain biases that make them hype up bums like Tszyu, Calzaghe, Pavlik, etc. I wonder what it is about those boxers that might make the media overrate them so badly...
That is really one of the most ignorant, if I may say that without hurting your feelings, spewings of nonsense that I have read here in quite a while.
Mayweather spanks quitters like Tszyu. If Tszyu quits after 11 against Hatton without even being hit clean much in the fight (other than square in the nuts), then what's he going to do when Mayweather is smashing him with combos? Mayweather wins that fight anytime in their careers.
Even Vince Phillips KO'd Tszyu lol

I find it funny that people say Judah was winning until the knockout. The fight ended at the end of the 2nd round lol. Judah won the first round and the second round was even until the knockdown.
true the fight was a 2nd round ko but it seemed like it would have been a tough night for kosta until that one punch landed.. not making excuses tszyu kod zab but it seems to me that his best win was against judah who we all know now never lived up to the hype.

Of course you didn't see those fights. You probably missed Tszyu's destruction of Vernon Forrest and the World Amature Championships, too.
Tszyu was one of the all time greats. A fantastic boxer-puncher. Right up there with Duran and Chavez. Most anybody with any sense at Jr.WW wanted to avoid Tszyu, including The Golden Boy, Mosely, and Mayweather Jr.
do you think tszyu would have beaten forrest as a profesional????? all time greats have all time greats on there resume not a ko loss to vince phillips and quit on there stool with one round to go in a competive fight. mosley mayweather and de la hoya would have scraped kosta tszyu. duran and chavez:biggthump
Benn,
Why is anybody who disagrees with you "a fool" or "an idiot".
this is a boxing forum. can't you discuss the sport with civility like an adult?
How can Mayweather have avoided Tszyu when Floyd had a long-term multi-fight HBO contract? PBF should have broken his contract to go to Showtime to fight Tszyu?
And I have video and articles where Floyd was asking Tszyu for fights. you never heard Tszyu say Floyd's name. Prove me wrong. Please. You said that Mayweather avoided Tszyu. When and how?
I disproved this argument last year with citations, quotes, and articles to prove it. If you don't want to believe it, then go back and dig it up for yourself..on the archives of this site. The verdict is definitely in on this...Pretty Boy Floyd dodged Tszyu at JrWW. Period.
didnt see those fights but neither jake rod or rafael ruelas would be considered top level opponents.

You are an idiot. Kostya didn't just beat Zab Fuking Judah, he beat Julio Cesar Chavez, Roger Mayweather, Sharmba Mitchell, Diosbelys Hurtado, Hugo Pineda, Jesse James Leija, Rafael Ruelas, Oktay Urkal and Miguel Angel Gonzalez.
roger mayweather and chavez were a shell of there former selves at that point and guys like mitchell hurtado urkal are solid but not great fighters. kosta was def one of the top guys at 140 if not the top at that time but the loss to phillips and quitting to hatton when he was still in the fight tarnish his legacy.
Maybe performance-wise, but Judah was undefeated and they were considered #1 and #2 in the division too. Plus Judah was kicking his ass in the first round.
So you agree it was his best win then
His best win was Mitchell II, it was a conprehensive obliteration of the No1 contender in the division.
Maybe performance-wise, but Judah was undefeated and they were considered #1 and #2 in the division too. Plus Judah was kicking his ass in the first round.
In the end, the only reason Tszyu is considered the best at 140 ever is because he spent his whole career there. It's like Joe Calzaghe at 168. Nobody thinks Joe is better than Roy or Toney at 168, but because he fought there his whole career, in a division with no talent whatsoever, he gets to say, "I'm the best at 168 ever." It's like Calderon fighting at light flyweight or whatever. I mean who really cares if you dominate a class that is just flat out awful? Move up and prove you're good.
