Okay, so with the next two boxing Mega Fights looming, I have seen many talk about the disadvantages to the naturally smaller man in the ring...
...but what I haven't heard many people talk about is the advantage of not having to kill yourself in making weight, and coming in at practically your natural weight..
How much of an advantage is it for a fighter to fight very close to his natural weight ?
he gets to eat before the weight in.
marquez is putting on weight which will effect his speed and reflexes. nacho is always saying on 24/7 how jmm is too slow to beat floyd.
Marquez isn't putting on weight, he is training.
It just mean that Mayweather doesn't have a warrior heart. Zab duked it out with Cotto but Mayweather won't. Nobody is doubting that Mayweather has great talent but the guy just doesn't have heart.
Mayweather doesn't have a warrior's heart because he doesn't want to cut weight and face Jr WWs?

Exactly, Marquez said so himself. "He said, I see this as an advantage, While Mayweather is making weight, all I have to worry about is training". He also said the weight wouldn't be a problem. Yet people want to baby the guy :nonono:

Don't believe all these BS weight thing. The advantage of cutting weight is overweight your opponent. Fighters would rather cut weight than to fight naturally. If it was that much better to fight naturally than trust me every boxer would be fighting 2 weight above what they are fighting right now. The only one not cutting weight are the one who can stiill preform fighting the bigger guy.
What does that say about Mayweather, who doesn't cut weight? Mayweather and Zab are probably the only two WWs who don't have to make 147.
floyd said sweets was his weakness..but i think he has to eat just to maintain his weight ..floyd isnt a big guy..on 24/7 he looks like a muscular midget
I must say, he looks more muscular then before.
I remember watching a Mayweather training vid where he was doing situps while eating potato chips and drinking a soda.
It is a good thing physically and emotionally not to have to cut weight. Physically because you don't have to weaken yourself on fight week.
And I don't have to tell anyone who has ever dieted or cut weight how distracted and pissed off you get. And jittery.
I have never boxed at a high level. But when I wrestled, i competed at close to my walking weight.
Sadly people don't see the luxury in that.
if you dont have to make weight then you can spend more time working on a game plan...but if you have to GAIN weight that is just like making weight imo
This is a good point. You can look at it both ways to be honest. Marquez is obviously training differently because of the jump in weight.
De La Hoya said weight wouldn't be a problem either... obviously it was.
People lie to themselves to you know.
Marquez walks around at 144, comes into the ring at 140-142. Mayweather comes into the ring 146-148. What I am saying is, Marquez isn't gonna be that much slower then before, he has faught at the weight.

thats the only advantage i can think of
