Before I start off this thread, I believe that ANY ATHLETE OR PERSON can redeem themselves from their past failures.
However, I tend to ask myself this question alot and I haven't gotten THE answer to it. So I'm going to ask you all...WHAT WENT WRONG WITH JERMAIN TAYLOR???
In hindsight I think that those two fights with Bernard took alot out of him...but let me know how ya'll feel.

tooo tense in the ring
i honestly don't think "anything" went wrong.....he's never been impressive against top competition, even when he wins......
this is just who JT is.....a skilled fighter, but lacking that "IT" that separates good fighters from great fighters.....
call it what you will, heart, stamina, killer instinct....JT's never had it.
stamina
overhyped
won the belts to early
Hopkins fights ruined him
can't beat white men
Thanks for all of the input....
any other things that went wrong with Taylor?
I think it was emmanuel stewart
before him he used the jab beautifully
I think that changed messed with him more than people realize
Allan Green made a good point in an article I read on here a while ago - he said Taylor does train hard but can't relax in the ring and that's the root cause of his stamina problem since that greatly enhances fatigue.

IMO, Ozell Nelson can't train spit to fall and is nothing but a "Yes Man" to Jermain. Pat Burns had the key to motivate and invigorate JT. JT has not been the same since he fired Burns.
jermaine taylor is almost like the vince carter of boxing.he had all the abilty in the world, but something was missing.what was missing was a hunger to be great.
At least, Taylor became a world champion, Wince (yes, Wince) Carter never did.

Vitali also took the fight on 2 weeks notice you dumbass. He was supposed to fight Cedric Boswell on the Lewis/Johnson undercard. Kirk Johnson got injured, pulled out and Vitali stepped in on just 2 weeks notice.
Vitali beat up Lewis and scared him into retirement. That's a FACT.
I lost a lot of respect for Lewis when he retired like a scared coward.
I think Bernard Hopkins scared JOE C into retirement, but that's besides the point.
And I don't think you had respect for Lewis in the first place, since he's black.. You just hated him more. It's actually the perfect cherry on top of a wonderful career, he erased any doubt that the Klits could be compared with him.

He may have taken the fight on two weeks notice, but you forget that Vitali is a superior white athlete and should've dominated and destroyed that glass-chinned fraud.

I have always thought the 2 fights with hopkins spoiled taylor. Just my opinion.
Here's one of my posts from a Vitali/Lewis thread. This will shut you up.
Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round, was getting outlanded and was hurt again later in the fight.
punches landed
Vitali 156
Lewis 102
Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission that night and would've KO'd Lewis if the fight had continued.
All 20,000 fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight. Vitali was the real winner of that fight, he battered Lewis into retirement.
Lewis promised Vitali a rematch
Vitali destroyed Johnson in 2 and the scared Lewis retired like a coward shortly after that fight.
Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew Vitali would destroy him and tarnish his legacy.
Lennox KO'ed Vitali. Vitali will forever be known as inferior, because he lost to a past it Lennox. There is really nothing either of the Klits can do to become near Lennox's level, Lennox made sure of it as well by soundly beating(his face was literally a vagina) Vitali on two weeks notice. If they had never fought there might be some discussion, but thet did and Lewis was the better man. END OF.

When was the last time you slept? I bet you haven't since the Vlad/Lewis fight. BTW, who won that fight? LOL!
Taylor can beat all the best black fighters, but he just can't handle strong tough rugged hard hitting white fighters.
Pavlik KO 7 Taylor
Pavlik UD Taylor
Froch KO 12 Taylor
Now Taylor facing another strong tough hard hitting white man in Arthur Abraham.
King Arthur will brutally KO Taylor.
Unlike Lennox Lewis who beat all the hard hitting white fighters he has ever faced, especially the last one. I think it was Vladimir Klitschko, if I'm not mistaken. HAHAHAHA!
GTFO here you racist prick!

You don't even try to hide that racism anymore.
