Reading over just some, of the MASSIVE flood of Floyd-related chatter on the www might make you believe that he's the most popular person in boxing. Now normally when you think of popularity, you would assume the positive. But in this case you cannot. Because Floyd's popularity is based on both the positive and the negative. There is no personality in boxing that generates as much talk as Floyd Mayweather ... bar none, No one even comes close.
Among the elite in the sport, within reach of his weight class. Even they get excited about the possibility of becoming the one to hand Floyd his first defeat. Floyd represents, not only recognition, but also affirmation as the premier in boxing.
Even when Floyd was in retirement, the chatter on forums about him continued to multiply. Going from the current news to becoming speculative and hypothetical .... but it was still relentless and unyielding.
Face it - love him or hate him, this guy {Floyd Mayweather} generates conversation and interest in boxing 24/7 and the world of boxing would be boring, repetitive and dreary without him.

Whatever your position -- You'll be talking about Floyd again within days or even hours and you cannot deny the fact, that he's good for the sport of boxing.
He sure exicits Ellerbe that's for sure.
Seriously ,yeah I agree,he is more better for boxing than worse. He's also a great, great fighter.
You really like Ellerbe dude lol
U posted here and read what the ts posted so he must do something to u inside. U haters r bigger fans than his huggers. Face it, U want cotto to be as big as pbf and not some noncharismatic robot that doesnt speak for himself but allows his fans and an old azz racist to be his mouthpiece! IF cotto gets by pacq watch and see how he conveniently gets steered away from pbf!
Realistically i cant see floyd getting to fight anyone at top rank,
the shit going on between him and bob arum is too deep and they need to put it behind them,
Floyd has made it obvious that he wants Pacquiao,
there ain't no doubt about that!
People want Floyd to fight Cotto but same thing goes with Bob Arum and I cant see Cotto beating Pacquiao either,
At the end of the day unless Cotto beats Pacquiao which in my opinon is very unlikely to happen a fight between himself and Floyd aint never gonna happen

You got really emotional there buddy.
Boxing has been getting more talk since he has been back, whether its been positive about him or negative... he helps the sport in popularity (so does Pacquiao).
My point exactly .....
boxing needs..people like floyd, pacman, jmm, cotto they all play their roles...this year was already great...but add in floyd and its unforgetable
I dunno about the year being great larry... I mean, the fact Floyd came back yeah, and that there might be Floyd vs Pacquiao soon yeah... but with all the deaths and that, it just isn't that good of a year to me. So far, it might pick up...
I changed Hard Knocks quote to post the things I like to do and who I am. Let's hope my Gayweather buddy's don't notice it hehehehehe ;)
Why would you say such a thing in public?
How is saying the same shit on TV and ducking top fighters going to excite me?

I like watching Floyd fight and i respect his skills he has been blessed with, but personally, i think boxing did fine when he was gone.
Pacquiao took over and it's been all excitement since then. Having said that, Mayweather's come back has made it even more interesting due to there being somebody who can finally give him a tough fight for once, aka Pacquiao. But unless that fight gets made i don't think he is necessarilly needed in boxing.
