I was on the thread about Vargas and him calling Tito a pussy for the low blows yet he seems to forget the 2 low blows he hit tito with.
There was a lot of counrty bias in that thead. Is the beef really that big?
**** Vargas
Dont make me laugh, we got 9 centrobasket gold medals, and 5 of those where won in Mexico. Also we got 3 Fiba Americas golds where Mexico has none. We are the most dominant basketball country of Central America and the Caribbean. Not to mention our sub 21 teams who roll through everybody in the continent without even breaking a sweat.

Also dont forget our volleyball teams. Way better than Mexico.
You think PR is better at basketball than Argentina or Brazil? I don't think so.....just saying. PR is better than Mexico in Basketball though, if you read my original post I said that I was just surprised that PR doesn't have more pro players in the NBA.
You guys should mind your manners a lil more, for a bunch of half breeds, yall mofos (not all but the ones who always seem to talk shit) talk like you own your island.....

Did you just call Puerto Ricans a bunch of half breeds?
Even in basketball it's a surprise. PR's are really good basketball players but for some reason that hasn't translated into the NBA. Where as there have been a few Mexican born players in the NBA, more than PR actually.

i hate to sound rude but Puerto Rico is better than Mexico at all sports other than Soccer

I'm going to end this once and for all....
Let's be real here for a second on both sides.
PR is part of the U.S and if it wasn't for the U.S it would be like Cuba, D.R, Mexico, Central and South America. Does the U.S take advantage of PR? Sure it does but at the same time, PR's are lucky to at least have the strength of the American economy behind them and the fact they are born citizens.
PR also has a huge drug and violence problem. This is a fact because I have lived in PR and I read the papers over there. There is and has been corruption at the local govt level there as well.
Now on to Mexico...
Mexico is a 3rd world country, extreme poverty and corruption at the federal level. There's no denying that and that's something that we could go into in another argument all together.
Mexico is also a country and civilization that is much, much older than any place in the Caribbean. The history of Mexico is drenched in blood and war...it's not pretty.
As far as PR fighting in every war for the U.S, this is true but believe it or not so has Mexico. Mexico fought in WWII for the U.S and even had a squadron of fighter pilots that fought on the side of the U.S. Mexico declared war on Germany, Japan and Italy in 1942.
Here's the link:http://www.avalanchepress.com/MexicanAirForce.php
So while it's easy to disrespect PR for not being a sovereign nation or disrespect Mexico for it's poverty and immigration into the U.S, let's not forget the struggles BOTH people have made.
Without Mexican immigrants, there would be no U.S. And the U.S has not given a free ride to PR's because they have taken from them plenty, built bases, bombed Vieques and established a strategic point in the Caribbean.
We both get riled up because we are hot tempered people, you can see that when we lace up the gloves and get into the ring with each other. The important thing is to respect each other and understand WHY things are the way they are.
I'm proud of being of Mexican decent, to me there are very few people on the planet that have struggled and persevered like Mexicans. From the time of the Aztecs, Toltecs and Mayas to Benito Juarez, Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa to the present day.
I'm sure PR's feel as proud as we do and that's the important thing.....
Best Post so far
this whole thread is bias. i'm mexican american and i love my sides fighters, BUT, i love the puerto rican people, i have alot of pr friends. the rivalry is good. makes things interesting.
**** that shit! everyone fight nowProps when props are due. That is a very intelligent post. Sometimes we get into the heat of the argument and we forget to be respectful to others. I am a boxing fan, and I love the Mexican fighters, they come to fight and do not back down. I also like Pac, he is a great champion, and also comes to fight. Most definitely support my countrymen when they fight. :grouphug:
No not even close. Actually, if you want to make that comparison, then lets make the comparison. Don't bring the "PR is a small island" argument because if a woman hit me, the bitch is getting hit back, so now your about to get hit back.
There are two things that PR is much better at than Mexico:
#1 - Shit talking, you guys have that in the bag. Nobody talks more shit than Ricans, not even close. I thought maybe Cubans could hang since moving here to Miami but you guys still have them beat.
#2 - Baseball. PR is better at baseball but surprisingly not by much. Mexico has won it's share of Caribbean titles, in a country where baseball isn't big at all.
In boxing it isn't even close, Mexico has over 100 world champions, second only to the U.S all time and no PR fighter will ever achieve the status all time that JCC or Salvador Sanchez have.
Even in basketball it's a surprise. PR's are really good basketball players but for some reason that hasn't translated into the NBA. Where as there have been a few Mexican born players in the NBA, more than PR actually.
The NFL isn't even close. There have been Mexican players in the NFL since the 60's. Some of the greatest players have been Mexican, including HOF Antonio Munoz.
In mma it isn't even close either. Mexican and Mexican/Americans are starting to sprout up everywhere. Miguel Torres is considered one of the best pound4pound and there is even a HW contender in mma that is Mexican.
the only reason there are more nba players that are mex/americans is because they are born and raised here so they go thru better coaching and stuff but name a mexican /american basketball player that is better than Carmelo Anthony
I'm going to end this once and for all....

I have been told that many times. I train young fighters now and love nothing more. Oh and I train Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Hatians and white kids, I treat them all the same.
I even paid to take them all to the Joseph Akbeko vs Darchiniyan fight.
The funny thing is though, the Peruto Rican kid asks me, "coach why don't you have a flag of Puerto Rico in here"...hahah
I told him, I don't own the gym man.....
If there was a category for classy post of the year you’d get my vote. As I said in a prior post (in this same thread) this shit is getting old. I’m Puerto Rican and having nothing but love for my Mexican brothers it’s just the passion we have for our fighters (Puerto Rican/Mexican) that blinds any logic from either side. Con mucho respecto.
Peace.
I just spent all my good karma but I'll give you one as soon as the system allows me.
Why not run for a public office or become a diplomat? :D
cuatemoc for me is the kind of guy i would like to hang out with!!
much respect to him for sharing his view and knowledge....
