Roy Jones would beat Hopkins if the fought.. Heres why..

BHop was too defensive in the Calzaghe Fight. It would be a very close Fight, if Roy and BHop would fight now. But especially in the Calzaghe Fight, I am sure, a younger BHop would beat Calzaghe. But hating Calzaghe, and I do hate him very much, would take too much away from him skill. And imo he is a true Legend. Even if he slapps.

Is Jones a better fighter than Hopkins right now? No. I dont think so.. But guess what.. Styles make fights... Benard has trouble with guys with fast hands.. Taylor, Calzage.... Roy has faster hands than both those guys..(Calslappy has a case tho) Hopkins lounging one punch and grabbing crap wont work on Roy.. Roys gonna move around and flurry.. Over and over and over again.. They both dont throw a lot of punches but I would favor Roy because of his physical gifts..jUST LIKE THERE FIRST FIGHT... Hopkins isnt KOing anyone and will be very weary of Jones speed.. Jones also still have decent pop.. Theres a reason Hopkins refuses to fight.. He knows he cant win.. once hopkins hits roy flush, the fight will be over....he'll stop the dancig and showboating, and crab up, like he did against calzaghe.....the biggest difference in the roy of today, is that he's afaid to be hit b/c he knows wht happens after that.

You forgot that Roy's legs are gone at this age...Jermain and Joe weren't washed up...and Hopkins didn't throw one punch and grab against Pavlik or Tarver Jermain was a prime middleweight on the fast track to stardom and he just squeaked out a decision over Bernard... difference is that one guy with fast hands(Calzaghe) beat the piss out of Roy, and Calzaghe barely got by Hopkins. maybe Roy has the hand speed to give Hopkins trouble at times, but he aint got the stamina or workrate to win the fight. unless Hopkins finally grows old before the fight, something Ive been waiting for him to do for about 4 years now. but the guy is unnatural. Stamina? Please.. When has Hopkins ever put pressure on anyone to make them tired? THose astonishing 13 punches a round he threw vs Calzage and Taylor? Yea that really tired them out.. He isnt gonna get Roy tired because he wont be pressuring him therefore giving Roy more than enough time to keep fresh.. In the middle of the ring Hopkins is not messing with Roy.. Im sorry.. Roys trouble as of late has been when he gets on the ropes and let his opponents let off a bunch of punches.. Hopkins wont have that luxary because that isnt his style.. Him and B-hop are neck and neck with stamina. Both fighters don't throw alot of punches, never have really. I've seen B-hop get tired down the stretch(against calz) and roy too(against Tarver in the first fight). I really can't say how this one will go but, my gut tells me B-hop takes this one.

i disagree. if hopkins hit roy w/ the shots he gave pavlik, he knocks him out.... will be a clear win, but i don't think it'd be a boring fight at all. I think Roy's speed stops Hopkins fighting like he did against Pavlik. He fights a cagey fight against Roy I think. Even at this stage Roy is pretty quick and B-Hop would be weary of that. I don't think Hopkins would be prepared to take the risk to let it go enough to stop Jones. So yeah, I see a UD as the most likley result. I'm pretty sure the fight would be a boring one too. These guys' styles are just not conducive to an exciting match-up.

I can't believe people think Roy Jones could beat B-Hop right now, I guess Bringer was right, Roy beats a C Level fighter and all of a sudden he's back.
