I hate to generalize like this, so forgive me, not all of them are doing it of course, but it just seems like a lot of them are completely downplaying the Mayweather-Marquez card, despite the fact that it features two of the most skilled fighters in boxing today(dont harp on about the weight) and has a very good undercard, full of name fighters and potentially good matchups(most notably John-Juarez 2).
people harp on about the weight, which yes is something to consider, but Mayweather hasnt fought in about 2 years now, right? besides, Marquez has been weighing in over 140 on fight night for a while anyway. hes still obviously the smaller man, but dont exaggerate. yall were dead wrong when you said the same thing about Pacquiao-De La Hoya.
and even if Marquez is over his head because of the size differential and everything, you dont go through a fight with guys as talented as these two without being impressed with the skill level.
Im all for this PPV, it has a great undercard and theyre simply marketing it smart. I hope other big cards take note, and even improve on it.
i dont get the hate on this place.... cotto vs pac in nov thats the main fight this year for me, of course i am gonna watch jmm vs floyd. not paying for it but def watching it. if you are a real fan of the sport theres no way that you will miss this fight. ( ill be rolling a couple and rooting for marquez all the way) :boxing:
Hey don't judge us all based on a few biased nuthuggers, I'm PRican and I've been waiting anxiously for this fight ever since it was announced. They are my two favorite active boxers and it is definitely gonna be a great matchup with a great undercard.
thats what I like to hear.
cheers.

Hoooooooly shitballs ; you just opened a rather large can of worms with that one, my man.
I've been down that road before. :lol1:
youre right, I should have left out the America part. bad choice.
I very obviously was saying that some (which means not all)Puerto Ricans were following a trend, and if you cant figure that out, then youre an idiot. and Puerto Rico is a place in America, not a race, goofball.
youre being a overreacting little woman, and you know it.

"I hate to generalize like this, so forgive me, not all of them are doing it of course, but it just seems like a lot of them are completely downplaying"
You Generalize, Admit it, apologize, and then contradict yourself by saying "not all of them, and you wonder why your statement is confusing?
WHatever...I made my point, Im out.
Not all Puerto Ricans know boxing and not all dont know boxing, not all are Floyd or JMM fans and some are, I am one who respects both their skills.:You_Rock_
How would this come off:
I hate to generalize, so forgive me, not all of the Blacks are doing this, but it seems like many Black People.........
I dont think most Black people would even like whatever came next.

what exactly do puerto ricans have to do with this shit? most of us are cotto fans(i happen to be a fan of may, pac, cotto, jmm) and i think most of us are content with the pac fight.
are puerto ricans at fault for why this fight hasn't sold tickets well? seriously, this thread is mad random.
Excuse me for mistaken that you made the thread. NOW..
"Manny and Cotto fans have been going out of their way to shit on"
Im sorry you were saying?- The Bringer/
We were not even discussing legit or not but this is you statement right...lol:burnup:
In my initial post I clearly called them "huggers".
That's who I was talking about in my subsequent posts, as well.
I may have slipped and said "fans" when I meant "huggers", but my initial post made it clear who it was that I was speaking about.
Real Pacquiao fans and real Cotto fans are pretty hyped for this one from the short convos I've had with them.
What's funny is that some people love to argue about fantasy fights and if this fight didn't happen I'm sure somebody in the future would spend time arguing about who would have won between JMM vs. PBF/MM. So we might as well try to enjoy the fight (between two great boxers) when it happens for real. If it sucks... we're boxing fans, we've been through that before and can get over it. If it's just OK, we'll at least be able to talk about the fight with people. If it turns out to be an unexpected classic, we will have memories that can last a lifetime.
Pacquiao huggers and Cotto huggers are cut from the same cloth ; if their "guy" ain't fighting, they either ignore the card completely or go out of their way to shit all over it.
Especially when you consider Cotto fans hate Floyd (for the most part), and Manny fans hate Marquez (again, for the most part).
Mayweather vs. Marquez is going to be electric and I'm looking forward to it much more than Pacquiao/Cotto because to me ; Floyd/Juan Manuel is a much more interesting technical fight, whereas Manny/Miguel is basically a foregone conclusion ; Pacquiao stretches him.
EXACTLYYYYYYYYYY
its sttuuupid.. and annoyin how they react..
Well you did not exactly validate what your saying by generalizing either.
Maybe you should have named your thread: Whats up with SOME of the Puerto Ricans lately?
It would have been more appropriate to what your trying to say.
I know all my Puerto Rican friends, not even just some Know and respect both Floyd and Juan...I know because their all coming to my house for the fight and poker...lol
first of all, this is my thread, not his.
second of all, did you read the first damn line? holy hell bud. go back and read it for me
I don't think it has to be with being Puertorrican, it's the kind of fight that divides opinions, that's it. BTW I'm Puertorrican and I'm a fan of both but JMM is my favorite active fighter.
No one is hating on the fight. The thing is other than Mayweather and Marquez fans not to many people are excited for this fight. Marquez is a counter puncher and like Bob Arum said "Floyd will be running around the ring" Floyd will pitty pat his way in to a decision against Marquez.
I am way more excited for the undercard than the Mayweather-Marquez main event.
Thats false, people who say this haven't seen much of Mayweather. Remember also, Ganero was also a counter puncher and Mayweather wen't in there to fight. Note: Ganero is bigger then Marquez but he isn't nearly as good, Marquez is leagues better. Notice that when Mayweather is facing an opponent that is smaller/ a little bigger or around his size, he destroys them. Mayweather isn't gonna run but he will be cautious of Marquez's right straight, which Marquez could land with pin point accuracy down the middle or Marquez's uppercut, which comes out of no where.
Im not saying that Marquez is by any means the perfect fight for Floyd, but how in the hell can you not want to see him fight someone as skilled as Marquez?
Its not like Mayweather is the sort of guy who 'imposes his size' on his opponents anyway, he never has been even when he did have a size advantage.
Im more interested in this than when Mayweather fought Hatton.
Reason being: Styles make fights.
The same hype this fight is getting in the sense of Marquez having this chance is the same way they swayed people to believing Hatton was going to beat Floyd.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Marquez and think he is one of the tops, but where the smoke and mirrors comes into play is how they rank Marquez #2 on the P4P rankings, so all of a sudden it's a genuine fight when in reality Marquez would lose to Mosley, Cotto, and possibly Pacquiao again. Now, this isn't to say Floyd WON'T inevitably fight these guys, but after the Hatton fight I made it very apparent I wasn't going to buy another Mayweather PPV until he gets in with the real challenges, and I truthfully don't see Marquez as a big challenge.
Crucify me if you will, but I'm just not sold on this fight.
Well you did not exactly validate what your saying by generalizing either.
Maybe you should have named your thread: Whats up with SOME of the Puerto Ricans lately?
This isn't even my thread. :lol1:
And I mentioned Manny and Cotto's "huggers".
I never said anything about their legit fans.
There is a difference between a fan and a nuthugger.
I thought everybody knew that already.
There are exceptions ot every rule. Just because you say you're looking forward to it does not mean what I said is invalidated.
Spend a few days here in NSB and you'll get the gist of what I was touching on.
Manny and Cotto fans have been going out of their way to shit on this one for no apparent reason, other than hatred/dislike/contempt for Floyd or Marquez.
Its sad really, to not want a another fight that doesn't involve your fighter to be a sucess. A kingdom divided by itself cannot fight against another kingdom, that other kingdom is UFC. Whether we like it or not, its competition and we didn't even start this shit.
Hahahahaha Gayweather fans are so stupid! We will see after both fights are over and Cotto destroys Pacquiao. Floyd will retire again because he will have no choice but to face Cotto .
I don't know what pisses me off more ; the fact that you think I'm a Floyd fan (when I'm actually in the middleground on him) or the fact that the bitch in your avatar is a butterface.
Yo Bringer, I'm glad you stick with your guy but seriously, you gonna be E-Broke, E-Points don't mean anything but don't think Mayweather is rusty rusty, remember when Mayweather walked away from Marquez during their announcentment? Mayweather specifically said, "I'm gonna slay him", thats when I knew, as a fan, that Mayweather only has a little rust to shake out. For all we know, he might have come back re energized, may the best man win though.
You know me, D ; I don't give a shit about points, son.
I got my favorites backs come hell or high water and I'll slap every last point I have on them just to prove it.
I made a bundle that way with Hopkins/Pavlik and Marquez/Diaz.
Odds mean dick to me ; anything can happen in this game we love.
Honestly speaking I'm positive Mayweather beats him.
That's my brain talking.
My heart?
It's in Marquez's corner. :boxing:
