I gotta say this!
After rewatching this fight again and again I have to admit its not that Pac didnt fight a good fight, he did, but Hatton simply boxed horrifically against the best (?) opponent he has fought so far. Hattons foot work was crap, from the start his hands were not even close to being held high. He never really made an attempt to use the jab and set offense up and he appeared to not be concerned about going downstairs. When he got inside he didnt use his mauling style and didnt/couldnt manhandle PAc. Mayweather summed this up beautifully in between rounds, perfectly by saying "you should have been listening to me from day one, keep your hands up, move your head and use your jab. That moment in HAttons corner really captured the problem with Hattons camp. The whole time Mayweather is trying to instruct his fighter, Beard the assistant trainer, is tapping Hatton on the shoulder trying to give him instructions also. You can see how and why Hatton seemed so completely befuddled and without a plan. The only thing this fight showed me is that Hatton is pretty much done at the elite level and Pac got a major confidence boost that he is still the best at 140 and maybe 147.
in hatton's youth he would not have tried to bum rush pac and might have lasted until the 6th round, all the while getting whooped.
a youthful hatton is more respectful of pac's power and speed... that's the only reason that fight would go past 2 rounds.
no his youth would have given him back his energy, punch resistance a little more head movement and hand and foot speed and the confidence and tenacity he used to display. He looked like a shell of his former self against Pac.
before his shine had been removed and his youth was behind him I think this would have been a much more competitive fight I still think Manny pulls it off but I think Hatton would have gotten stronger as the fight went forward. Manny well he doesnt even give of us a chance to see that. He just lays mufka's out and splits with the dough!

Hatton fought the exact same way he has fought through out his career.
on his best day, hatton couldn't beat pac.

I think most people agree with this:
Pacquiao is a better boxer than Hatton. However, Hatton is a much better fighter than the performance he put on against Pacquiao. You saw what he did to Malignaggi in the fight before that.
I remember shouting at the TV for **** sake Hatton, calm down. He just kept running foward into Pacquiao's punches. I think thats all Hatton knows how to do though. That shit doesnt work against the best of the best.
He fought against Mayweather in the later rounds in exactly the same fashion.
Do you agree he is done against the elite? I also should have mentioned that his yo yo dieting was another factor I think that has finally caught up with him. Being fair though I think he had a very good career and if he does retire should be very proud of his accomplishments.
