I thought that this fight overall was a great learning experience. He got caught and somewhat hurt and fought back like a champ. He didn't get into the theatrics and kept his composure.
He really needs to be 100% committed to defense though. But overall he's is a solid fighter.
His KO rate has absolutely nothing to do with whether he is a big or a weak puncher. Way to show your ignorance!
He knocked out his 1st 9 opponents who had an average record of 5-4 and who are very used to being KO'd. Fighters are built on stiff bums now a days and this makes them look like Tarzan when a lot of times they are really Jane's.

Yes of course i know. But still i dont see him as a soft puncher, his power is ok. But people shouldnt be to disapointed, Smith was an good opponent who came in great shape and with big confidence, hes really wanted to win, a big step up for Jacobs and he passed the test. But lets see where he goes from here, i think he can take his game further and there is much room to improve.

great fight for him. From his 175 weight at fight night he looks destined to be a supermiddle. The kid needs to put it together all those punches were wasted IMO and he needs to stop standing straight up with his hands down when he is moving from inside to outside. That said Ishe Smith fought the fight of his life, awesome effort, just not good enough which really says something about Jacobs. I think he'll do good things.
First of all, Jacobs is not a weak puncher, look at his KO rate. He might not be a big puncher but he has some pop and can suprise you with fast punches you dont see comming. I watched some of his fights and he seems verry talented to me, but the fight against Smith was a step up and he didnt look to spectacular but hey, hes just 22 and has to take it to another level, he has the tools and talents to do it, hes just not ready yet for Top10 guys or a title shot. But the middleweight division is verry weak and it would suprise me if he will not be a champion sometime down the road. I mean look at the Top10 of middleweights right now! Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams are the best and the only really goog fighters in this division.

He's young but needs ALOT of work.. He needs to work on his foot movement. His power seems to be overrated being that Smith was a welterweight that moved up in weight to fight him and had him going back most of the fight. The plus is that it was good experience and he's still young but he needs to get a better trainer and work on alot of things.. He has some pretty good skills though he just needs to really work on them.
I thought Jacobs fought well against a difficult opponent. Smith is a very good boxer and came determined to win.
Ishe is very underrated IMO, he's a tough fighter with like a Winky type style.
Jacobs is ok, really he needs to get physically stronger, some of his punches looked sloppy, if Ishe was more active he probably couldve won, his shots were more solid and stronger, he just didnt let go of his hands and wasnt following up with anything....but every prospect has a hard fight, for example, like when Cotto fought N'dou, you guys remember that 1????
He has a fighters heart,Ishe is not easy to look good against, but he did enough to win,I'd like to see him against more offense,so I can make a better analysis!!:boxing:
he aint as good as andy sorry.....
It would actually be a pretty fairly matched fight and that is a good indication of what kind of talent Jacobs is. Middle of the road, just like Andy Lee.
i love jacobs and have been folloiwng him. hes a great boxers but lack a slight maount of power and allows himself to get hit by hooks but hes young hell be alright. but kobe you are the single greatest talent to ever touch a ball and the most skilled to ever play. and your doing it in the era of the two guard unlike jordan who did it in the era of the center and pf where he towered over unatheltic defenders and never saw zone defense. how does it feel?
He still needs to learn a lot.
There were a couple times he had his head down and just swinging wild.
He didn't seem to have a lot behind his punches at all.
He is still young though. What is he 22 with like 18 fights. He still has time to learn. He hasn't been a pro all that long has he.
I thought they tried to build him as a puncher and we all learned last night that he lacks big time pop in either hand. He got hurt by a true welter which makes me question his beard. All and all he is a B type fighter. I would like to see him and the Fernando Guerrero kid in a battle of prospects.
