Juan Diaz is overrated

Diaz is not overrated, Paulie is good. and this fight also showed you how good Hatton is.

For a lightweight, he has above average strength, output, chin, and defense. Without mentioning the insane pressure he puts on. He is a great win for JMM, would you consider Vargas a great win for De La Hoya or Trinidad? How about Pavlik for Hopkins? Pavlik at the most a very good win...due to the fact that Bernard was 44...although he made Pavlik jump up in weight... Vargas a very good win...that was the last meaningful win Oscar has had...along with Trinidad

The cut didn't happen until the mid rounds but I give him credit he has heart but I don't see what's special about the guy. No question he's a good fighter. But some have him on Marquez's resume like its a GREAT win... Maybe you could argue about Freitas being faded but c'mon Katsidis is decent at best...defense isn't in his vocabulary... In fact I think he should loose some flab and go down to 130. Honestly the beating and KO loss he took from Marquez may have damaged him, he also fights very badly when cuts. I disagree with a lot of what you have to say TS, but I do agree that if you give him angles, and smother his workrate he can be beaten very easily. I also think Malignaggi clearly beat him. Also Berto is gabage and would lose to any top 5 WWs including Quintana. Fair enough...I agree with the bolded... P.S. That cut affected him if you ask me...he wasn't jumpin on Marquez like he had been and his output dropped...and of course the fact that Marquez started whooping his ass... I don't think he's elite that's just me...two old veterans beat his ass and he got dominated tonight by a feather fisted speed demon... The cut had something to do with it because it helped distract him. Again, you ignore the pinpoint body punches and head shots Marquez was landing in the exchanges and all the punches Diaz threw and just say he faded. All that early work and the cut helped Marquez do his thing later on. That's why trainers say body punching is like putting money in the bank. At 135 the kid was/is elite, only elite fighters are able to take rounds from that version of JMM, even in losses. He was facing a bigger, faster, stronger man tonight, hard to beat someone with all those advantages only HOF fighters like JMM can do that type of ish, and he doesn't seem to be elite above 135.

Juan Diaz is not overrated, he is a good fighter. Thing is, Paulie Malignaggi is also a good fighter, but some people tend to forget this. He was in great shape tonight, had the right gameplan, and good corner work. The trainer gave great advice and the corner men made good work on his cut. He has always been fast and elusive, and what he lacks in power and strength, he makes up for with heart and determination. Juan Diaz has the same heart and determination, but is Paulie's stylistic opposite, in that what he lacks in speed (even though I think he has above average hand speed) and elusiveness he makes up for with strength and relentlessness. We just saw two very good young fighters going at it. Of course they're limited (Paulie can't brawl very well and Juan can't beat you moving backwards), they're not ATG's, but that just made the fight more competitive and fun to watch.

Well I'm pretty sure he's going to get another "easy" fight before even stepping inside against Mosley. He's more protected than Osama Bin Laden. Berto-Mosley might be on now if Berto wasn't offered peanuts...

Whats the criteria for elite? Everyone has a different definition there's no point in arguing it. The quality of opponents you have beaten is most important to me...if Marquez and Campbell were still around he wouldn't be the man at 135 like he may be now...

I think that 118-110 was crazy.... And that is what makes people think that there was a robbery... The right person won.. It just so happened there was a bad card.... And people are too persuaded by Malignaggi's slick talking... Juan won the fight.... Did he win it 118-110, HELL NO... But he DID WIN THE FIGHT... No he didnt, no fukking way. I gave every close round to Juan Diaz even one or two where Paulie probably won and I still had him losing. Juan got outboxed and outworked.
