Now in 2009, the 3 more Powerful Mexican TV Stations, show boxing on Saturdays (there are days when there is boxing on these 3 channels on National TV at the same time), sometimes Sundays on Primetime,
And on Tuesday,September 15 (Mexican Independence Day), TV Azteca will have his card with Travieso Arce, and Televisa will have his card with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Edgar Sosa making another defense of his World Title on Primetime.
But Before that on September 12 (Saturday) TV Azteca will show on National TV, the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight, and in the card will be Fernando Montiel, Manuel Vargas and Samuel Peter.
But on Friday, September 11
"CAMPEON AZTECA" will make his Debut on National TV and will be watch by Millions of Mexicans
It's a Boxing Tournament with very Competitive fights, 8 Featherweights and 8 Lightweights will compete to make his dream a reality.
A Title Shot for the WBC Title of their respective divisions.
Here they are talking with one of the most Respected Mexican Journalists Javier Alatorre announcing "Campeon Azteca"
Edwin Valero was in the ceremony of announcement, where they made the Draw for the first fights, and said that he will put his Lightweight Title on the line versus the "Campeon Azteca", winner of the Lightweight Tournament.
Dominican Elio Rojas will fight the "Campeon Azteca" of the Featherweight division.
There will be 2 fights every Friday, a Feather and a Lightweight fight., And they will show his lives and stories.
Also all of the 16 Boxers, will have a "Padrino" (a Godfather), that Padrino will be a Mexican Boxing Legend, that will give them advice and support on his corner.
Almost all of the Padrinos were present on the Ceremony, and Jose Sulaiman was also there.
The Padrinos will be Rubén Olivares, Chucho Castillo, Alfonso Zamora, Víctor Rabanales, Carlos Zárate, Daniel Zaragoza, Ultiminio Ramos, José Luis Bueno, Juan Paredes, César Bazán, José Antonio Aguirre, "Chiquita" González, Gabriel Bernal, "Travieso" Arce, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pipino Cuevas.
4real only seen Alvarez fight once...You guys think he a real prospect or hype? Fugg the Heavyweights WHAT Boxing needs now is a Boxing icon from Mexcio!
el jaguar i seen u post being from mexico...i had a question i heard ufc got 10 million views from televison in mexico is that true? if so how many people watch boxing? thanks
Don't believe that, Televisa got UFC really cheap, because they are trying to compete with TV Azteca boxing ratings, because Televisa boxing cards don't get the same rating when they compete with Azteca at the same time
But Televisa main combat sport is Boxing and it will always be (with fighters like Edgar Sosa, Saul Alvarez, Cristian Mijares) because the majority of mexicans don't like groundfighting.
Televisa put UFC that night after the Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fight versus the russian, and the Alvarez fight got more rating than the UFC.
And in TV Azteca the same night, they Showed Boxeo Azteca Clasico, and with the fights they show, i believe not many people watched the UFC.
2 Great fights showed that night:
Jose Luis Castillo vs Diego Corrales I
and
Erik Morales vs Marco Antonio Barrera III
The fights on Azteca ended later, so don't believe that the UFC got that many viewers,
All the talk in Mexico is about Boxing.
