iv watched the fight a few times..am not saying that the 30year roy is back but his legs seemed to have alot more bounce..then the last 3/4fights where he seemed to drag his legs..what you guys think?did his legs look alot stronger??
oh yeah anyone know what song RJ came out to?
Once again, you have to look at the circumstances. Hopkins beat Kelly in his prime and WASN'T expected to win by almost any expert. You have to give Bernard credit for even being able to take advantage of that at his age and against someone was not only 20 years younger then him, but pound for pound one of the best fighters. Jones beat Lacy who was not only even more shot then he was, but lost every single big fight that he ever had. That's why, i said you were comparing the two.
I personally don't buy into the pre fight excuses but that's just me. Before the fight, Kelly didn't complain of anything and said he felt great. After he gets beaten, other stuff starts popping up. Just like how Ademek was all of a sudden weight drained at light heavyweight against Dawson. Not to say you're a liar, i just have my own way of seeing things.
well i didnt take away from the pavlik win... at all.. i specifically said that... i said he deserves his props... but lets also not FORGET certain aspects of the fight.. such as the current MW champion fighting at 170lbs...
You may not buy into certain excuses... and im not one who likes excuses either... its not really an excuse... i mean if i wake up with a fever... you beat me in the ring... its not necessarily an excuse... but it DID exist... its not dismissable... and from what Dan told me Sunday when we flew back together from the fight.. was that Kellys camp wanted to postpone, but Kelly wanted to go ahead with the fight, so its of no surprise to me that Kelly didnt say anything.
Again, Bernard is 43... the dude deserves all the credit in the world... like i said... HYPE the win... dont OVER hype the win...
Jermain is still considered an elite fighter, even though he got KOed by Froch... 15 seconds more he would of been the new SMW champion... hes looked at as a live dog in the SMW tourney...
As shot to shit as Roy apparently is... not even Jermaine could do what Roy did to him... so... yeahhhhh...
Im outta work ... be back later.
nobodys comparing anything... i didnt compare a single damn thing. the only thing i compared was talking how one fighter was tailor made and another wasnt
everyone wants to talk about roy being shot to pieces.. but when he wins.. he was supposed to..
a one dimensional fighter is tailer made for hopkins... that doesnt take away from the win... but it is what it is... and im not taking away from the win.. hopkins was 43...
Hopkins does that to Chad Dawson... THEN we can talk.
Hype the Pavlik win... dont OVER hype it.
And yes, Pavlik had a 102 degree fever... says Dan Birmingham to my face 3 days ago... u dont have to believe it.. thats fine.
Once again, you have to look at the circumstances. Hopkins beat Kelly in his prime and WASN'T expected to win by almost any expert. You have to give Bernard credit for even being able to take advantage of that ''one dimsension'' at his age and against someone was not only 20 years younger then him, but pound for pound one of the best fighters. He had a fever? That's the first time Ive heard that one. But anyway, the odds in Hopkins/Pavlik and Jones/Lacy couldn't be more different, in fact i think Bernard was about a 3 to 1 underdog. Almost EVERYONE thought that Pavlik would be too much for Hopkins because of his youth and stamina. Just because Kelly was one dimsensional, didn't mean he was made for Hopkins.
Hopkins was 44 years old and beat a current belt holder that was in his prime. Jones was expected to beat Lacy, who was even more shot then he was. Not that he didn't look good( and i even enjoyed watching it) but comparing the two situations is like comparing apples and oranges.

he had a jab and a right hand and that was all he needed... in his prime... 10 lbs above his best weight with a fever...., a slow come forward one two puncher... dont act like pavlik wasnt tailor made for hopkins, dont even act like it.
That doesnt mean hop doesnt get cred for doing what he did at his age
and it dont mean pav isnt 10x what lacy is..
just dont act like pav wasnt tailor made for hopkins, alright.

he LEANED ON THE ROPES THE WHOLE FIGHT how the hell does he have his legs back
He did out box Taylor in their rematch. Hes just an all around better fighter then Lacy and more consistent. Also Lacy has been sliding ever since Calzaghe, and Kelly was in his prime.

not that pavlik isnt a better fighter than lacy... of course he is
lets not act like pavlik isnt a slow one dimensional plodder either though...

No. If he were to fight an opponent that could put effective pressure on him you would realized his legs are still gone
workrate beats roy jones, hopkins would be the only one recieving the beating
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
And to the thread title question, I'm not sure you can get your legs back once they're gone.
No way,they still are shot.
And they ain't coming back.
Why would you ask this,it's apparent he still goes on the ropes for no reason and doesn't move around anymore.
Me being a big roy fan, HELL NO!
even though he said he chose to fight lacy's fight
and even tho he put on a show his legs are never comin back
sadly.... =/ however thats the best performance ive seen from him in the last 6 years, that 20 punch combo he threw in 3 seconds was BEASTLY
even at 40 yrs old he still has the fastest hands in boxing.. AHAHHAa

It was a throwback fight, but that doesn't mean that he can go around beating CWs or HWs.
It's a stupid concept that Jones has suddenly got his legs back at 40. No way. If Roy was to step in with a young puncher I see him getting really hurt and I don't believe he will stop until that happens.
does'nt matter, hopkins and tarver right now are too slow to counter anything roy jones sends their way
and where the hell is all this hopkins is fast shit coming from?
Hopkins is one of the best counter punchers in the sport, and you need speed and timing to counter effectively.
Hopkins is slow? :ugh: Watch him against Pavlik and early against Calzaghe, he definitely has hand speed. Not the fastest in the sport, but fast enough to knock down Calzaghe with a punch he didn't even see and land a series of consecutive overhand rights on Jones at middleweight.
yea, because hopkins can still fight like when he was 39
how old is he now? 45?
tarver got lucky in the second fight
jones did'nt fight the third fight
hopkins is slow and throws little(excluding his head)
also tarver is bigger than hopkins and has one punch ko power
does b-hop?
Jones didn't fight in the third fight against Antonio because he was fighting a rangy counter puncher, which further proves my point. Lacy was one dimensional, and Hopkins( like Tarver) has the ability to take advantage of Jones slower feet and deteriorated reflexes by mixing up their attack and being natural counter puncher's, which makes Roy hesitant about letting his hands go in fear of being counter punched so he just does enough to survive, the way he did in the third fight with Tarver and the Calzaghe fight. With Lacy, he didn't have to worry about anything coming back at him because Lacy has no boxing ability and has became a plotter, so he felt free to let his hands go whenever he pleased. If Roy fought anyone slick like Bernard or Dawson( especially) then he would look shot once again.
