jay nady is a terrible referee. Even before this fight ever took place i hated him. he is way too overprotective with his refereeing style. warns excessively, & stops the action way too many times. Too cautious of a referee, stops action & fights too prematurely. He was the referee for marco barerra vs juan marquez. marco clearly scored a knocked down then hit behind the head because nady stepped in too late to separate marco & start counting the knockdown. marco didnt get credit for a knockdown & taken a point. He was the refree for premature stoppages like the baldomir vs judah fight. baldomir knocked down judah made him do the chicken dance. judah got up but was not given a chance to continue because of jay nady. judah went after him. I have seen about 5 or 6 jay nady refereed matches, he is just utterly horrible. Him & joe cortez are one of the worst ones. I totally agree with most of what you have posted, this fighters have been trained to fight and are being paid to fight the fight, but the ref is the third guy in the ring and is being paid to keep the fight in order at all times...

I agree... The punch doesnt even look strong... And the oscar goes to!!! **** me, he was lying there like he's been Hatton'ed but after the punch he looked at the ref then decided to go down. Hatton wasn't down as long as he was. Full on chump move. On both sides.

it was a late punch but i blame that sorry piece of sh*t excuse for a referee jay nady. at the very end of the round conception rocked luevano w/a right hand, the bell rings & nady is behind both fighters. Like any good referee would do he was suppose to get in between both fighters to conclude the round & prevent any punches from getting thrown. WTF was he doing behind the fighters & just staring at them? Conception was frustrated the whole fight & finally lands a big punch at the end of the round, the fans go crazy, loud, he gets excited & high on adrenalin & just keeps throwing. Not the first time a punch after the bell is thrown. Nady as soon as the bell rang should have stepped in the middle or grab one of the fighters to physically signify the end of the round. That's what good referees do. cosign bro. we have the same observation

Guy I agree with you on alot of subjects but you know damn well that was unintentional. Luevano was winning the fight but noone was getting their ass whooped. Both fighters were very respectful of each other throughout the whole fight. Concepcion was in the zone after hurting Luevano near the end of the round. He couldnt hear the bell and obviously it registered late in Luevano's mind as well because he was up in concepcion's grill still. cosign. concepcion is a classy guy and he didnt do it intentionally. the ref is nowhere in the middle of the 2 fighters as well to stop any action. and yes, nobody was getting whooped i dont know what fight the ts was watching. anywan even if the fight went 12rds, concepcion will lose. hes too small to be in featherweight imo. the guy is also afraid of taking risk and being hit. im disappointed

if the ref was doing his job that should not have happened, although I agree a disqualification is probably in order, I am asking if the referees should be more proffessional in doing their jobs these things wonth happen ... anyways MAB hit JMM while he was on all fours, and it was also the ref fault Marco was able to throw a punch but escaped with only a deduction ... Pac hit marquez after JMM was clinching and falling down on the ropes in their first fight and it was counted a kd ... Pac got hit numerous times after the bell by Hussain but only got warnings ...

He was hurt by that punch. Right after it landed he wavered like a leaf for a second then went down on his ass. This shit happens though. As Danny said earlier, you need to protect yourself at all times. Bernabe was running on high momentum and adrenalin at the time so the damn ref should have been in there. A disqualification was in order.

Let this be a lesson to every other fighter out there. Stop being such gentlemen in the ring, screw the hand shakes save that cordial shit for after the fight if you must. Protect yourself at all times. If you hear the bell, keep your hands up or run to your corner. How many times have people got off a shot or two after the bell. I personally did not hear the bell. What has been bothering me as of late, is I thought there was posed to be a 10 second tap warning but there are times I have heard the tap at 15 seconds before the bell and in one fight I was hearing it 5 seconds before the bell would ring. This is just one more thing that is wrong with boxing. The incompetence never seems to amaze me anymore, fighters forced to fight 5 minutes because some asshole sitting ring side does not know how to use a stop watch? :banghead:

If anything maybe a suspension just maybe.

Bernbae should be ban, Margarito and his trainer should be ban, not a year suspension. Tyson should have been ban after he bit Holyfield's ear. Barrera should hav been ban after a punche when JM Marquez was down.
