Ok everyone out of the three matches that are occuring who wins to proceed to round two? (Proceeding as winners that is?)
1. Carl Froch vs. Andre Dirrell Prediction: Andre Dirrell (Then again in this fight who cares.) Neither will win the tournament anyway and if they do then I guess unicorns exist and leprechauns are out there somewhere. (Ask either of them if they win where they are)
2. Arthur Abraham vs. Jermain Taylor Prediction: I think Arthur Abraham wins this one. We all know what happens to Taylor in the later rounds of every fight. He gases out
3. Mikkel Kessler vs. Andre Ward Prediction: Mikkel Kessler Ward is still inexperienced compared to Kessler who has twice as many fights as Andre Ward. To add to that Ward tends to fight at the level of the competition sometimes.
I don't know anything about Dirrell, but if he can box, he beats Froch. Froch is absolutely terrible based on what I saw against Jermain. The guy has no clue how to box and lost like the first 9 rounds against Taylor. If Taylor didn't run out of gas or if he could learn to finish someone off when they're hurt, that fight is a blowout loss for Froch. Give me Dirrell.
Abraham crushes Taylor. And easily. Taylor has no clue how to deal with pressure, so once Abraham starts punching, it's over.
Ward-Kessler is the real toss-up. I don't think much of Kessler, and Ward is still blossoming as a fighter. I guess go with experience and say Kessler wins.
I think Abraham wins the tournament
Dirty
So if JT beats princess arthur by decision I guess all the huggers will claim the Miranda injury was a factor and talk about how 168 wasn't his natural weight or how the sun was in his eyes for the first 8 rounds.
And what if "QUEEN" Arthur makes JT beg for mercy, what does that make JT?
Guess thats why he's hardly lost a round as a professional.
easy when the competition has been B- or lower to date. We shall see what happens when he fights another world class fighter.
king arthur KOs taylor (no doubt).
froch-dirrell is tough, froch is very beatable, and i think dirrell will give him hell early on. but its hard to pick such and inexpereinced and unproven fighter over a world champion. so i have to go with froch, late stoppage. but like i said before, dirrell looks great in what ive seen from him and could very well win. but i just cant pick a fighter who never did shit.
ward-kessler is hard. kessler is soooo overrated but im not sold on ward yet eighter, i still think ward will outbox him and win a decision though. neighter one stands any chance to win the whole thing anyways so it doesnt really matter.
Only problem is, that it is not a "full" round robin. They wont face everybody before the elimination. Therefor what if 3 fighters has the same amount of points, and only 2 fighters can proceed?.
Maybe there are 2 groups A and B and the #1 and #2 after a group round robin proceed to the semifinals ?
Yeah I know it's not a full round robin. I'm not sure of all the fine details.
It's a round robin tournament, with a best-of-four elimination round following. 2 point for a win and 3 points for a knockout (1 for a draw).
There should be a tentative schedule of the round robin bouts in the news archives. I recall Dirrell and Ward are slated to face off in their third fight. I think I recall that Dirrell may be slated to fight Abraham in his second fight also.

Froch will beat Dirrell (Froch has punching power, stamina and a great chin, Dirrell is over-rated and inexperienced)
Kessler will beat Ward by UD
Taylor/Abraham i won't be suprised by a draw, otherwise Taylor wins by MD/SD
imo
I agree with everything except for Direll being overrated. I think hes good, i just think Froch is better.
As i understand it, every fighter has 3 fights. The best 4 with the most points proceed to the semifinals. #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3. Winners go to the final.
But i could see problems going into the semifinals with 2 or 3 fighters with the same amounts of points, don't know how they will deal with that.

It's because is not eliminatory, it's based on points, a victory gives you certain amount of point and then lees if you loose or draw. At the end the two with more points would fight and if someone ends up tied there should be a tie-breaker fight.

I agree with you, but I'm not too sure about Froch, I know that a lot of people are taking him for granted and I'm not, believe me, but Dirrell has great handspeed and a good stamina, even a nice defense. The factor here is the pressure, I don't like the way Dirrell reacts to constant pressure, so that will depends on how much pressure Froch will apply to him.
I think Taylor will surprise alot of people in this tournament. Being this is his last shot i think to get to the top, I think he wins the whole thing or atleast gets to the finals.
