Yea, there are a lot of posers in the mma fanbase, which is probably the most irritating thing about the sport. I like it otherwise, even though its not nearly as deep as pure boxing or pure wrestling.
I mean, guys that trained at mma gyms would challenge me and I would honestly pretty easily handle them. and all Ive ever done is a little wrestling in high school, and trained myself in boxing(which is vastly inferior to going to a real gym). and yet theyve been doing mma or karate or some sort of martial art for longer than Ive been self training myself....yet I beat them in standup and on the ground.
I dont know, I like mma, but a lot of them seem to have this odd superiority complex, always insisting that mma fighters would easily beat any boxer in a 'real' fight.
when in reality, a 'real' fight doesnt have rules, and any mma fighter would get murdered in a second by a guy with a gun or knife. or a purposeful groin shot, for that matter.
they are sports, for entertainment, not deathmatches. and the fans always want to think of themselves as 'better', just because they think their sport is 'superior'. its odd.
Its not like theyre ALL like that by any means, but Ive met a fair share that are like that.
True, in a street fight I would consider a skillful Krav-Maga artist for example. Trey train how to fare well with and against weapons such like knives, sticks, club, even pistols without any Hollywood-bullshit.
I once saw a TV-show where a host who had been training martial arts for his lifetime got taught how to defend against knives. With little training he blocked 10 or 11 ferocious knife attacks from 360-degree angles before being stabbed in his neck.
Of course it was made with training equipment, bu still that says something. Also in places where's not much space to move, you don't even have space to throw a kick. Krav-maga has been developed also in these situation with lethal things like eye-poking, throat-crushing strikes, trips, whatever to end the fight INSTANTLY causing death or severe crippling.
The most scary thing is that they actually sparr using these techniques.
Roy would sell his soul for a buck. Hes always been about the flare and the dollar signs so this isn't shocking.
I guess you forgot that pro boxing is a business.
Roy's entitled to his own opinion, but I'm sure his comments are mainly stated with the intention of drawing further attention to his supposed showdown with Silva on the horizon.
I hope he takes it and embarasses Silva, but something tells me he'll go easy on him and it will end up being a glorified sparring match.
Truth be told even a 75 year old Roy Jones beats the piss out of Anderson Silva in the boxing ring.
How you want it, son?
However it ends, Silva will show true respect for RJJ stating him as one of his greatest heroes. And if he couldn't even touch Jones, he will honestly admit it, Anderson Silva is a true class martial artist.

you forgot..... Vitali Klychko!!!!!!!!
Im not sure what youre trying to say with that.
I dont know exactly how far Vitali got in kickboxing, but I know he got fairly far in it before he even started boxing...and he did lose in the amateurs about 15 times.
so at the height of his kickboxing career, he was still considered amateur level in boxing.
you forgot..... Vitali Klychko!!!!!!!!
Very good recall. If he had turned to an MMA fighter about ten years ago, he could have been the most devastating striker ever, ant the one who couldn't been put on his back.
Vitali with his fighting mentality, strength, power and skill would absolutely murder Brock Lesnar of today, having had ten solid training years (or six if he still had the injuries) in MMA.
Are you reall that ignorant? Andy Silva wouldn't beat any cruiserweight in the top 100.MMGAY guys constantly try their hand at boxing and they always fall at the first hurdle,Why? because the talent pool in boxing is far superior to that of MMGAY.
Roy jones has a much better chance at beating silva in a mma match than silva does at beating him in a boxing match
omar sheika would have tooled silva in a boxing match
hopkins also got his backside back in the gym and worked his backside off to become a success in boxing. It took a while but he got there,Andy silva was content with MMGAY and it's limited talent pool where he had enough skills to be a top fighter
I wouldn't say Silva could beat none of the Top 100 at this moment, but clearly against the most he'd got beaten.
And why? Silva chose in his childhood to make himself a complete muay thai fighter, afterwards he has added very respectful BJJ in his arsenal. And yes, these two things truly need skills to master. He hasn't done all the boxing training RJJ has and by that he's incomplete as a boxer comparing to RJJ.
But hell, has he trained? All the time, living in a way of a martial artist.
I respect boxing, my roots in fact are in boxing. Never competed, but boxing related things have stood as a one of my hobbies for over ten years, and I happen to appreciate also people who do different fighting methods.
do you think that Anderson Silva could beat the best kickboxers in the world?
Top level kickboxers that tried boxing:
Ray Sefo
Mighty Mo (got his jaw broken)
Mark Hunt(won the Grand Prix in K-1 in 2001, which is basically the kickbxoing world championship)

I agree. I luv the UFC too. Great card, great fights... Roy put MMA fights on his last PPV. GARBAGE MMA fights but whatever....Roy hopes to be the next Dana White after his boxing career...
The white dude is Forrest Griffin a top p4p ufc fighter.
Have you lost your mind or being totally misinformed?
If it's the second one, read that post. If being the first, add concentrating as much as possible in the last lines.

griffin is a popular human punching bag. he is the ufc equivalent of mayorga minus the shit-talk.
That's the true story. He's very well known of his masochistic approaching, going into brawls with guys who can strike.
Ravishing who is that white dude anderson silva is knocking down in your avatar? Nice little punch that. Didnt seem to have much power though but he fell.
RJJ reallly likes fighting dont he by wanting to mix it with anderson silva

Roy is going to be able to choose which round he knocks Silva out. There is enormous difference between being able to throw punches and being able to box and Silva has virtually no boxing skill. It's going to be an exhibition of classic Roy Jones clowning.

I think Silva's Waaaay to slow for RJJ, Roy would be able to block whatever he threw or dodge it. Silva would also get tagged quite easily, he's not a good boxer AT ALL. Forrest has probably some of the worst boxing I've ever seen lunging in like that not even covering up or having his feet set. It's going to be a shock to Silva when he finds out the difference in skill level of boxing and MMA should he fight RJJ. He's also going to have to put a lot of power in his punches because you can't KO someone with those little shots like he dropped Forrest with at the end. Wlad Klitschko could KO Forrest with just jabs LOL.
Should RJJ get past Lacy I'd say go for it
1. Lacy is a better boxer than Silva even though he's not good at all, in fact Lacy's boxing skills are better than maybe everybody's in MMA (he is a boxer of course)
2. Lacy has a shit load more punching power than most MMA fighters including the ones in the higher weight classes if RJJ can win the fight by at least a UD and show that he can still get away from those power punches he's going to take Silva to school easily.
