I agree. Cotto winning is better for boxing. Not for the mainstream but for the good of the sport as a whole. I don't think i've ever voted for Cotto and have always pulled for Manny, but the shit Manny is pulling is just complete crap. As Silencer said, it's a win-win situation Although, I do believe a Pacquaio win would attract more casual fans. hey if Cotto wins, he would be the new superstar just like Pacquiao became the new superstar after beating Oscar DLH.

The reality of the situation is that if Pacquaio wins then he will obviously continue to fight at a catchweight. My take on it is this, you want to be a welterweight then fight at the WW limit. If you wanna b a light welter or whatever then fight at that limit. The sanctioning bodies are now creating belts to cater for all this catchweight bullshit. Its not good for the sport. There's enough divisions as it is, catchweights are unnecessary. Y does he want to be able to claim that he won belts in 7 weight divisions when he wont fight at the 7th divisions limit. I agree with the original poster, a Cotto win would be better for boxing. A Pac win would set up a superfight with Floyd, which would be good- but would also most likely b a catchweight fight. It's pretty obvious that the WBC created the Diamond Catchweight belt because of Manny Pacquiao. no, the diamond catchweight belt is because of sulaiman. It's unfair to make the welterweight limit 145 and not 147 the welterweight limit is still 147 lbs. and make Cotto focus more on losing that 1 pound, and come into the fight at 80%-90% and not a 100%. wow 1 fukkin lbs!!! how many lbs will cotto have on pac on fight night? about 10 lbs!!!! 10 lbs > 1 lbs. this argument is a fail. Pac should be fighting at LW. heavyweights don't complain of their opponents being 50-60-70-80-90-100 lbs above, so why should the POUND FOR POUND CHAMPION complain?

It's good for boxing if either one of them wins, if Cotto wins, he becomes a big star that the PR fans can get behind even more than now and he would catch the attention of some casual fans. If Pacquiao wins, it makes him even a bigger star than he already is which will make more people tune into boxing which could lead to the most significant fight in boxing in years against Mayweather if Mayweather beats Marquez. I think this fight is win-win.
