This diamond-belt thing looks gimmicky and pathetic, and normally I don't care about all the crazy things that've been happening with the organizations...but this is getting really out of hand. It's disgusting! Granted, it's nowhere near as bad as stripping Bradley from one of his titles, but still... It's just setting up the winner for possible catchweight super fights (and setting up the WBC for more sanctioning fee income).

Jose Sulaiman, President of the WBC, has announced the institution of a new WBC green and gold belt to be called the WBC Diamond Championship, a honorary championship exclusively for fights between elite boxers. This new implementation was voted for unanimously by the WBC Board of Governors. The WBC believes that this belt will play a very important role in fights between elite boxers called “catch weight” fights. This WBC Diamond Belt is being manufactured using the same design as the traditional belt but the materials will include 18 karat gold fusion, 598 diamonds, 196 emeralds, 6 rubies and 150 swarowsky semi-precious stones. Sulaiman also stated that he is very proud of the step taken by the WBC, as it will be in benefit of improving boxing, in benefit of the boxing fans of the world, to promoters, television and everybody involved in the sport of boxing. This project by the WBC will fail outright if both Cotto and Pacquiao won`t allow it to be sanctioned due to additional payments, especially since the WBO is already willing to sanction it regardless of Cotto. Even the IBO is willing to sanction it at a price of a measly 30,000 each. What if they present it as a true recognition award without any sanctioning fees attached???

If they're gonna present this "Diamond Championship" to a fighter, they need to give it to the winner of an elite vs elite bout with no sanctioning fee attached. That would be the proper way to recognized a great fighter. That would be the proper thing to do but you forget who we're dealing with, the greedy sanctioning bodies!

Starting today all BS posters will be a member of a prestigous organization that will give only one belt for each defined division. I would like to nominate Perro as the President of the new prestigous sanctioning organization that will be named BSC. Please reply to this post if you agree that Perro will be the interim president of the new sanctioning organization.
