Be honest, did Nate Campbell look like a man who couldn't see when asked for the stoppage?
you can't really tell, you are being too objective. signs such as seeing spots or so are subjective to those who experiences them.
For me it depends. If he truly believes that he cannot be competitve because of the injury then yeah I think its fine. Nate claims to be seeing spots and didn't believe he could be competitive with limited vision.
He only started getting hit when he was headbutted and he did look like a much different fighter after that so I would say Nate falls into that category.
However there are some who just do it as a cheap trick but we must use our common sense and reason to distinguish the two.
Nate never said he didn't want to continue. He said he couldn't see, which is what the doctor asked.
Doctor: Can you see?
Nate: No, I am seeing spots.
Actually he told his corner to stop the fight twice. The camera caught him doing it. Watch it again.
It depends, MAB got f*cked in the same situation. They were both cut early, older, getting beat to the punch the the faster fighter, and most important, it was in their opponent's hometown.
i dont condone that action just to walk away with a no contest but i do if you honestly in your heart of hearts feel your safety/life is in danger. I mean the macho side of me (being a fighter myself) is to fight and never back down ... but the smart thing to do is to keep your future in mind. Sometimes its only you that truly knows whats going on in there... what if Gerald McClellan would have just taken a knee to be able to function normally for the rest of his life?
You didn't answer the question. You were being politically correct.
Do you think that he could see or not? Do you take his word for it or do we question whether he wanted it stopped so he gets a no contest because he knew he was gonna lose.
well how the hell should i know...how should anyone of us know we aren't nate campbell, i can't say weather or not he's lying and can no one else say it....
and you know what i don't think a man who had loss a 4,000 paycheck and having finical problems would just quit cause he was losing the fight...
and i told you if a fighter can't fight then he can't fight...if nate couldn't fight then he couldn't fight....do I myself condone that...no...but im not about to knock on someone who did. I don't know their story.....
I won't hold it against Nate, because that cut was caused by an accidental headbutt. Even if he could or couldn't see, he feels he will be at a disadvantage as the fight wears on. He tried to "ND' his way out, unfortunately, the ref pussied his way out of a tight bind.
Better luck next time Nate, and hone your acting skills better next time...
if nate couldn't see he couldn't see...he said he was seeing spots. we aren't nate eyes so we don't know what going down with nate....didn't they say he's going to the hospital? maybe the doc will say something....
anyway to answer your question, if someone wants the fight stopped but can contiune then no that wrong. if they can't then they can't.....

Saying, I can't see = I want this fight to be stopped.
If you wanted to continue, you can lie and say you're ok.
But Campbell lied about another thing, and that's that he couldn't see.
To be honest, Nate was crying from the opening bell. Bradley had his number and that was it. Nate, I told you guys was old and I told you all that Nate would fold against a soft hitter. Bradley took away Nate's ability to work inside. If you noticed just before the fight, Bradley was working on his inside game with his team. You thought them two guys were hugging or praying? Nope they were going over the fight scenario and how to neutralize Nate up close and personal. Yes the head butt occurred but Nate was never really in the fight and he knew it. Nate always takes those soft hitters lightly for some reason. For some one who was trying to win a world title, he sure did not look like he wanted to be there and he sure wasn't willing to give it a little more by at least going a few more rounds. What ever happen to 'Punchers Chance'? Didn't Nate claim that his power and his ring experience would catapult him to victory? I saw a dog who was basically fighting with his tail between his legs most of the fight.
Nate got old and I called it. Nate is no more.
if nate couldn't see he couldn't see...he said he was seeing spots. we aren't nate eyes so we don't know what going down with nate....didn't they say he's going to the hospital? maybe the doc will say something....

If a boxer wants to stop fighting because of an illegal blow, then I'm perfectly fine with it.
I have a great deal of respect for fighters who will brave all sorts of gruesome cuts and swells but I can't hold it against fighters who don't want to or feel they can't
Absolutely not. Doctors are there for a reason,a nd should decide when the fight gets stopped froma cut. If a fighter says he doesn't want to continue, then I see that as quitting, and they deserve to lose.

He didnt have a seeing eye dog, so he musta been able to see. Actually he could see out the one eye I suppose but he mentioned seeing spots, and the Doc supposedly saw blood behind the eye so why risk going blind?
It wasnt like the Rachman fight when he really just wanted to quit.

Only if they cant see or have a medical reason caused by the accidental whatever.
