Destiny's Child began with three individuals who's love, compassion, and dedication, towards providing a supportive environment for servicing individuals with developmental disabilities such as mental retardation, autism and schizophrenia. Truly inspired, Ms. Clementine Burch (Director), Mr. Vernon Forrest (CEO), and Ms. Ki Toy Johnson CFO, opened a home to service their clients needs.
They stepped out on faith and allowed God to place a blessing in each one of their hearts, to inspire generations to come on the importance of giving back to your community and putting your faith in the Lord. As a result, Destiny's Child was formed in 1997 at a residential location on 5360 Sara Jane Campbell Dr. with two consumers from the Regional Board. The house was in an isolated location in the suburbs of the Atlanta city limits.
The all brick two story home was transformed into a loving and nurturing supportive personal care home for adolescent clients. In the summer of 1998 Destiny received their third client who brought tears of joy to their eyes, the young man brought a goofy laugh, and a love that warmed the heart of anyone who was feeling bad. From that moment, Destiny's began to see the rewards that God had delivered them.
I'm just bumping this thread again for anyone that feels like making a small donation to this good cause. I'm sending off mine soon.
The address is 100% confirmed.
I'm in gentlemen. I worked for years as a nurse for clients such as the ones the Viper and his foundation took care of. So I can appreciate his life in and out of the ring.
RIP CHAMP!!!!!
green K. thanks for coming in and posting too

Agreed.
I can understand this place is mostly populated with underage tykes with no real source of income, however ; any man with a real job who's ever bought a PPV, or watched a regular HBO or Showtime card that Forrest was on and felt they got their's money's worth should send a donation to his Organization.
Thank you for posting this. I was thinking about posting a thread about one of my favorite memories of Vernon. He was a client, and very good friend of mine. I had just talked to him hours before he was killed. He called me to wish me a happy birthday. I'm devastated. He was such a great person, as well as fighter.
I'll post this on my myspace, and facebook to spread the word.
There's a guest book for Vernon on legacy.com
If you can't find him on there just PM me, and I'll send you the direct link.
And I didn't think I could feel any more horrible over this....
...My sincerest condolences.
I'm wrecked over this shit and I never even got to meet the man.

Please post that thread. I would love to read it. I'm sure many of us would. We are all so deeply saddned by this loss and we have never met the man, but we understood how special he was.
I can only imagine how hard it must be for you. I appreciate your help and my thoughts go out to you too.

I think this would be nice if anyone can spare a few dollars, whatever you can, to make your donation in the name of Vernon. For the organisation that Vernon helped build, lets let them know what kind of fans he had - fans that not only admired his abilities in the ring, but also his heart and soul. Lets pay respect to the organisation he loved.
I just emailed the organisation just to clarify the address.
As soon as I get my reply I will let you all know.
Good idea ; they may have changed their address.
Let us know when they get back to you so those of us who care enough to donate know where to send it.
I'm going to keep bumping this thread on a daily basis.
Instead of taking time out of your day to talk about Pacquiao, Cotto, and Floyd for the millionth time, why not take some time out of your day to do something really special and help further Forrest's legacy?
You don't have to give the type of money Forrest gave ; every little bit counts.
And this is something I think he truly would have wanted.
This is the perfect way to honor him, you guys.
I know times are tough for a lot of people right now, but please ; try to give something.
I'm going to send a check their way when I get my paycheck next week in honor of Vernon.
I'm gonna send them some cash when I get paid too. C'mon guys, lets do this in memory of Vernon.

For people grieving the loss of one of our great fighters, perhaps making a donation might help - and to something that he truly loved.
The Bringer gave me the idea when he mentioned he would donate to a local charity.
