... Because that way he becomes the real deal at 147, and will have the right people chasing after him (by rights they should, at least). We could see that Mosley rematch, Mayweather, Williams, a Clottey rematch, or even a Margs rematch (come on, you all know it has to happen). I would have no problem calling him the Man at 147, providing he actually fights WWs and does it with style. In the end, he's a good bloke.
A Pacquiao loss, meanwhile, would be a very good thing. Why? Well, that way we'd get to see that Marquez re-rematch (whether or not he beats Mayweather is irrelevant), or lots of other possibilities at 140 or 135 where he belongs. He will never face a live opponent at 147 - it'll always be at a catchweight or something else - so I think it's better that both men end up going back to their real divisions after all this and being the best there.
I mean, are people actually labelling Pac as a WW now? I don't really care about the catchweight for this fight anymore, but what about afterwards? With all these WWs who want to fight him, will he demand catchweights for them too? Like I said, if he loses, he'll be forced to go back to 140 or 135 where he knows he can beat anyone. One loss to a real WW (who, hopefully, will blow up to LMW or MW on the night) will surely make him think twice about setting foot in that division again.
No hate, just an observation.
we all know pac aint a welterweight douchebag
Aw, look at this little cockhanger. Neeeeeext. :wanker:
How does Cotto beating Manny at a catchweight make him the man at 147. Doesn't add up. Not trying to diss you or anything. But a rematch of Mosley vs. Cotto means more for the WW division.
Much better.
You pretty much answered it yourself with that last part - Cotto will subsequently become the main force at 147, regardless of catchweights, because he will have beaten the so-called "p4p #1" boxer in the world still at WW. It'd be huge for him.
He will have overcome the odds being against him with the weight, and matched the level of skill that Pac brings to the ring. Having a win over him at this point would propel him into absolute megastardom.
Hopefully it would then prompt more discussion with the aforementioned Mosley, or other fights, at the proper weight. Pac, meanwhile... who knows. Mayweather might still want him, but he'd demand an 80-20 split at the least. :laff2:
I see Cotto winning this fight.
BUT, boxing fans hopefully wants to see a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
If Pacquiao will win, there's a big possibility that a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would happen. Mayweather would take the 50-50 purse split as he knows that Pacquiao is the biggest draw in boxing right now, assuming Manny will win.
I hope Pac knocks him out in the 1st round so the Pac hype gets bigger and bigger
I'm rooting for Pac in this one You really think floyd vs pacman will occur? With arum there?

But Cotto winning is great for him as he'll definitely be a commercial name now if he wasn't already.
Overall though I think Manny winning would be better. Just because he represents much more and is more of an iconic figure. And just the whole being a smaller man type thing that comes along with his persona since he's been moving up.
However, I could care less just tyring to maybe explain the perspective of the masses of casual fans. I just want to see a great fight. Where no one gets hurt too bad. And please don't show kids of wives crying.

we all know pac aint a welterweight douchebag, he is just making the best fights for the fans and adding to his legacy before he retires.
Indeed. Good call.
But with that said, I'm still somewhat torn over whom I actually want to win the fight purely on the night itself. On one hand I want Cotto to send Pac back to where he belongs (140/135) and re-establish some order at 147, but then I prefer Pac's style and have never been a fan of what Cotto brings to the ring.
I either root for a good right, root for one man, or root for both. The last time I was in this situation was with Marquez-Diaz...
No worries mate....I say root for a good fight....Let it pan out how it is going to pan out. PAC aint gonna fight any real big WW. He is going for cash and after he fights Cotto the only other traget I can see onhis immediate radar is FMJ. The only way he is fighting JMM again is if he losses and JMM wins. To me that is only a 20% chance. I think everyone is going to be surprised come 11/14....Lefty
so denying the greatest match of this decade (pac-may) is good for boxing? great!!!
Of course I want it to happen, but I'm realistic enough to realise that it most likely won't. It'll end up like Jones-Hopkins II at best.

and if cotto wins, mayweather will retire or fight hatton, pac will retire and concentrate on politics, thats what i see that will happen.
I said this last week in another thread my man.....pay attention....Lefty

he already shut down the 50/50.. he wants more money.. he's already said it..
it's still very early days in negotiations... both of them still have fights to get through!!
he's just pushing his luck. I think he'll cling on to 55-45 for a while but will eventually concede and accept 50-50
Floyd outweighs JMM by 5 - 7 lbs, Cotto outweighs Pac by 10 - 12 lbs
Floyd will accept 50/50 with Pac, i'm sure of it

I am routing for the fans and a too see a good fight. I see more benefits for boxing if Cotto wins reason being is that Cotto will fight other WW and not require them to come down to 143-145lbs. Also if Pac loses it won't take much away from him as long as it is a good fight. he can still go back to his JWW 140lbs and take on Bradley, Witter, Campbell or JMM regardless if JMM wins the FMJ fight. I still PAC and FMJ happening as long as PAC puts up a good show with Cotto win or lose. It might be a fight in between for both FMJ and PAC if he losses to Cotto. ....Lefty
it wont happen.. floyd demands too much that he doesnt deserve.. maybe his eyes will open when the pac/cotto fight outsells his lame easy fight with marquez..
Floyd outweighs JMM by 5 - 7 lbs, Cotto outweighs Pac by 10 - 12 lbs
Floyd will accept 50/50 with Pac, i'm sure of it
I think it will happen, that bout would crush the numbers of any other fight, they'd be stupid to not fight

All at 147? That'll be the day. Mosley did something terrible when he said he'd fight at 140...
Won't ever happen. I'm more sure of that than the outcome of any actual fights out there. :laff2:

I think Mosley is the least likely to land a bout with Pacquiao, but if he does it'll probably be 143lbs or 145lbs. Not ideal, granted, but what can you do... Mosley is willing to concede that advantage it seems
Marquez/Pacquiao III would probably be at 140lbs
Mayweather/Pacquiao, weight doesn't really matter. Both rehydrate about the same amount, the fight would play out the same whether it be at 140lbs or 147lbs
FTR I think the Mayweather/Pacquiao bout will happen. It makes too much monetary sense not to

yea.. i think it will be great for the WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION its already the best division in boxing hands down.. so many great names.. doesnt matter to me who wins as long as there is a great fight.. sky is the limit for the winner, i definately dont wanna see cotto and margs again so cotto can prove that he cheated.. but hopefully next time he fights him he will stick to his real gameplan.. the body shots.. he stayed away from margs body.. IMO the biggest mistake in that fight.. i think thats the real reason he lost.. he hardly hit to the body.. it wont be boring in boxing for the next couple years thats for sure.. cant wait
he'll fight Mayweather, maybe Mosley, maybe Marquez and that's it

i think it's best for boxing and neutral fans if Pacquiao wins as it gives us Mayweather - Pacquiao, one of the most significant fights ever
Won't ever happen. I'm more sure of that than the outcome of any actual fights out there. :laff2:
He can face Floyd, him and Floyd both weigh 148
