I just think Cotto has become one of these money-hungry fighters. He deserves a pass for it somewhat though, because he has taken a lot of punishment and his defensive liabilities don't help his cause for a longer career. So he might as well strike the pan while it's hot. I can't be mad at him for that. But I don't hear the word "retirement" coming out of mouths of fighters like Paul Williams, Glen Johnson, Nate Campell, and Juan Manuel Marquez. I've heard it come out of Kelly Pavlik's, Manny Pacquiao's, and Jermaine Taylor's mouths. I can't really say Taylor fights for money though, because just about every fighter on his resume since Hopkins brought craft to the table in one way or another. There were no Alfonzo Gomez or Jennings like opponents for him, and people only started liking him after he lost a couple of fights. Cotto has good opponents on his resume too, but he needs to fight for a legit belt sometime in his career and be willing to defend it.
