already laced up, would you demand to check his wraps?
Or would be foolish enough to trust him?

Holloway Reflects on Fateful Margarito Sparring Session
http://www.boxingscene.com/index.php?m=show&id=18309
Holloway's career was put in jeopardy during a December 19 sparring session with Margarito in Montebello, California. Both were preparing for fights; Holloway's was the following week while Margarito was gearing up to tango with Sugar Shane a month later. What started out as his final day of sparring nearly became his last day of boxing.
"To be honest, it happened so quick that I don't even know what happened," Holloway, 9-1 (5 KO), tells BoxingScene.com. "I remember he threw a wild right hand and I slipped it and he switched over to a southpaw stance and threw a left uppercut. And it landed.
"When it first happened, I didn't know what hit me. I've been hit 50 million times in my career, but I'd never been hit with a shot that hurt like that. It felt like a hard object hit me in the face. I thought he hit me with the palm of his hand. It wasn't like a normal punch. It didn't feel like a padded glove hit me. It was like a solid, hard impact.
"It felt like I had been hit with a bag of rocks."
Holloway suddenly called a halt to the session. The right side of his face went numb, his vision became impaired, he feared the worst. Hoping it was just a minor issue, Holloway waited two days before visiting the hospital. When he finally went to the emergency room, they confirmed that he had fractured the orbital bone on the right side of his face.
It wasn't until Holloway visited a specialist that he realized how serious the situation was.
"They told me that there was a possibility that I wouldn't be able to fight again. They said there was a possibility that it could heal wrong and that they'd have to re-break my face and put a metal plate in my face."

holyshit.... why did i just read about this... damn...
before i ad my thought of interlect i want to say a few things about myself, so its understood there is no bias in my statement, Im a die hard, boxing fan, not that its important but im black, and before this whole plaster debacle, you couldnt of found a more die hard non mexican margarito fan like myself. With that being said, 1st tip your hat to Mosely for a masterful piece of boxing he showed us against margarito.
I was personally disgusted when i heard about this, cause i can admit i was a margarito dick ryder, i was impressed with his style, chin, will, and determination in the ring. But if anybody on this site actually thinks that the only time margarito used or tried to useplaster was against mosely your ****ing kidding yourselfs. Cotto had facial fractures, and though he took a beating in that fight, he was actually hit more against shane mosley and zab judah, yet his face didnt come close to swelling that bad, and margarito was only this dominant in the division because of his height advantages, when he fought somebody his size, i.e, Paul williams, or sergio martinez, he looked very average.
I remember a fight against a guy named Sebastian Lujin or Lujan, youtube it, margarito was beating this guy so bad that his ear was literally ripped from the side of his head, before this whole plaster of paris thing occured, that fight was my confirmation, that margarito was a bad mofo, now after the allegations, im willing to bet he was wearing plaster as fas back as that fight too. please before you respond, if you havent seen the fight, just type it in on youtube. Point im trying to make is that, now you have this kid Holloway saying that he believes that that could be the case with him during his sparring sessions, which i doubt, however, margarito only has to blame himself, for these allegations, FOR CHEATING IN THE 1ST PLACE. No offense im really pissed, cause he was calling for the likes of Mayweather and DeLa Hoya, and every and i mean every sparring partner he had in the last 5 years all say the same thing, that he packs a powerful punch for a guy who is that slow and thin. Which leads me to believe that he was giving the benefit of the doubt this who time, now he got caught, and there are still some of us who actually are in denial by either pretending that he didnt know, or that it was the 1st time he even tried. Pleeeeeeeease, If he just came off a victory against a sure hall of famer in cotto, and if he didnt feel the need to cheat then, what made him decide , that all of a sudden out of the blue, im going to put my career at risk, after he coming off the biggest fight in his career. simple, he thought he can get away with it again. But he got caught, if you dont believe that, please respond back and tell me why you think he decided he needed an advantage against a fighter that lost to the man he knocked out. Margarito knew he was numbered, to the point that he quit, because without that plaster, and the fact that he wasnt really touching mosely anyway he had no chance in that fight, the fight against cotto, cintron, and if there is any boxer besides cotto who should be heard, its sebastian lujan, because that cheating mother****er almost cost him his hearing, and if you saw that fight, no offense, slow punches, does not make ones ear literally come off.
Will somebody summarize this for me?
Umm to get used to the plaster? You dont want to go in a fight not knowing how you will fair with them, also to see its effect in sparring before an actual fight.
:pat:
that was the worse excuse ever.
Margarito has fights like that. He cannot consistently keep it up from fight to fight, look at his fight with Paul Williams. I think what happened against Mosley was that an ATG embarrassed a guy who had come off a fight where he gave everything he could. Margarito took just as much punishment as Cotto did when they fought, and probably lost even more.

i noticed that, and margarito through way less punches than normal, because his punches werent hurting mosely
Mosley was clinching him after he would land, hence Margarito never getting off.
Sergio Mora looks fine to me.
Damn, Love the way Marg throws that Left uppercut/hook and then drops the right hand right behind it. It comes at such an akeward angle that it's so hard to get out of the way of. Marg is a beast, he has no speed, no agility it seems and he lands so much.
Knocks out happen yes, even in sparring but having your shiet broken up? Please. Plaster man was using his bricks on his partners. I have sparred with men twice my size and I have never been busted up. I have been knocked silly but not out with no lights on. I have been rocked and rolled and my legs turned to spaghetti but never even against the bigger boys, have I been busted up where I had to go to the hospital.
Then you haven't been in enough gyms. I have seen people get that same injury, get their nose shattered, all kinds of gruesome shit.
When two men are hitting each other with such force, things happen. Again, what benefit would Marg have in loading his gloves in sparring? Makes no sense whatsoever........
I'm pretty sure if a single punch broke a bone in your face that it would feel like a sack of rocks hit it.
How could that single punch feel like rocks and not any the previous 30 that were landed before that? It's cause that one punch broke his f'n face and the others didn't. No plaster involved here.
Margarito, despite his great physical advantages has 4 losses in his career. He was not an unstoppable fighter before the Mosley fight. He is also not a knockout artist, he is more a grinder who will throughout a fight wear you down to be put down. That style does not work against certain fighters, and people do not give Mosley enough credit for what he did to Margarito.
That was because his plaster power was gone, any shot he did land was like Malignaggi hitting Mosley. The gig was up and Mosley knew it and Mosley just beat Margarina up and down the ring the entire night and there was nothing Margarina could do about it since the plaster was gone.
Did you ever think it was because Mosley has a granite chin?
Paul Williams was doing the same shit to Margarito. So what is your excuse for that one? Clottey was fine as well, so what is your excuse for that one?

Lol, because he couldn't land shit and was getting his brain scrambled.
Mora was complaining that he was slow and still got hit. So what? Margarito was bending space and time as well? :stooges:
I guess with plaster on your fist you do have the ability to bend space and time on a motha phuka's face. No doubt son.

Sergio always complained about sparring with Margarito. Sergio claimed that when ever he sparred with Margarito, he knew Tony was slow as the day is long and yet he was still getting hit and it was hurting. He could not figure out how or why this cat was landing when he was just so damn slow. I would love to see some new sparring footage of Mora and Margarito now, I bet you anything Sergio will be demanding that they show him the wraps. I would not be afraid nor ashamed to ask. You are a sucker of you would let that boy (Margarina) lay a glove on you with out being 100% sure if he was packing plaster or not.
Did you notice that against Mosley, Margarinas punches were soft? I wonder why that was?
Lol, because he couldn't land shit and was getting his brain scrambled.
Mora was complaining that he was slow and still got hit. So what? Margarito was bending space and time as well? :stooges:
I call bullshit on that one. First off, what benefit would Marg have in loading his gloves for a sparring match? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
You spar to get rounds in, not to knock people out quickly, that doesn't help you prep for the fight.
I think he was embarassed because Marg caught him with a good shot and busted his shit.
Shit, just last week in my gym and 145lb fighter sparring with a 200lb fighter knocked himout with one solid right hand when the bigger guy was coming in. He was so embarassed and his ego was so bruised but I told him it happens to the best of them. He just got caught perfectly.

I would just train with him. I would get my ass whooped though. He is too big for me and has a style that I have problems with.
No one else complains about training with Margarito. That guy was just milking the wraps scandal. Sergio Mora also trained with Margarito, do you hear him crying or saying shit about being hit by rocks?
