brilliant analytical breakdown, as always, Silencers...i could definitely see those scenarios playing out...especially the 'role reversal' in the championship rounds
Totally Silencers the poster on here
But i see maybe play a little diff but 1 thing i will note of is Pacquiao is fighting a full welter yes he can hurt weather he'll expend his energy trying to get him out of is another Q but i see Cotto KO'D in mid to late rounds he'll not get away with the stamina probs & as Silencers pointed out weight probs play a little add body work from Pacquiao his there to KO'D
But i would disagree with Silencers on this lol
i can see that too...........if PAC catch Cotto big......you think he survives???.i dont see Pac surviving if Cotto catches him........your thoughts?
Well it depends on how hurt Cotto is, Pacquiao is a very good finisher, if he catches Cotto big and really, seriously hurts Cotto then it's very possible that Pacquiao can finish him because Cotto doesn't know how to clinch, he elects either to fight back or cover up, if he fights back when hurt his reflexes would be slower meaning he wouldn't be able to get out of the way of Pacquiao's quicker shots, if he just covers up Pacquiao can just flurry him till the ref stops it. But of course if he isn't hurt badly and knows where he is and stuff, he can survive.
Same thing applies to Pacquiao really, it depends on how hurt he is, he's been in some wars in the gym so he should know how to survive, he knew how to survive when hurt before.

Definetly a high speed chess match wherein Pacquiao using his advantage in speed and overwhelming Cotto with right hooks and straight lefts to the face. On the 6th round cotto's face will be full of blood and still figthing with one eye open and eventually taking a knee to bring to an end the non-stop pounding of Pacquiao (and of course to take a glimpse of pacquiao's nuts) .
I see Pac coming out strong for the first 3 rouunds with Cotto landing an occasional good body shot here and there (money in the bank), and occasionaly stopping Pac in his tracks with his hevy jab, but by the 6th rd Cotto will start looking like the bigger stronger guy breaking Pac down and most likely stoping Pac in the 9th or 10rd.
This is how I see it playing out.
First few rounds I think will be cautious, I think Pacquaio will be on the outside using his movement, Cotto will be the one coming forward, Pacquiao will try to throw combinations, darting in and out while Cotto tries to figure out and time Pacquiao with his jab. The intensity of this fight will go up as the rounds go on. I think Pacquiao will win the majority of the first 4 rounds because it normally takes Cotto a few rounds to really get going and figure his opponents out, while he's trying to figure Pacquiao out, Pacquiao will be doing all the flashy stuff, throwing combinations, moving side to side, in and out and doing enough to win the rounds.
This is a little out there but I also expect Pacquiao to get to Cotto early, Cotto has defensive lapses and knowing Pacquaio and Roach, they'll want to get Cotto's respect early and hard so I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see Cotto hurt early in the fight, maybe not to the point of getting knocked out or even knocked down but hurt enough to make him respect Pacquiao's power.
The mid rounds should be the best of the fight, Cotto would have warmed up and Pacquaio always fights for 12 rounds, Cotto's jab and timing I think will give Pacquiao problems here but Pacquiao's speed, explosiveness and angles will make things very interesting and competitive, I expect to see quite a lot of vicious exchanges in this part of the fight. I expect one or even both of them to get cut around this time of the fight, both have shown that they can fight through cuts but it takes Pacquiao a bit longer to recover from getting cut, Cotto just works through it. I think it'll be a very even fight by the end of 9.
In the late rounds, meaning 10-12, I think Cotto will start to fade, the weight making while not that drastic will have an affect on Cotto and he has a habit of fading in his really tough fights, I think this will be a really tough fight for both of them, Pacquiao hasn't faded in the past, Cotto has. I think roles will be reversed in the last few rounds with Pacquiao coming forward and Cotto moving around on his bike, noticeably trying to run out the clock and maybe try and steal some rounds. But I don't think he'll be able to.
So, I think Pacquiao wins this fight close decision, somewhere along the lines of 115-113 to 116-112 but I wouldn't count out a late stoppage win for the Pacman when Cotto fades.
To answer the thread question, I think it'll be a high speed chess match that becomes a brawl on occasion.

i think they start boxing manny is not going to go toe to toe with cotto. and cotto can outbox him. i got cotto by late round stoppage
145 is too light for cotto, he's gonna be gone like a wind!!!
He weighed in at 146 against Clottey...2 pounds aint gonna KILL him.
His belt shouldn't be on the line though
Even fight until the halfway point and then Cotto will begin to wilt. Pac will start to catch him more and more and then eventually stop him aroun 9. I dont care who wins this one at all. I just want a good fight. Im just tired of picking against Pac and being proven wrong.
Paquiao Coming on fast with blazong combinations and a lot of movement.
Cotto will be behind a tight guard showing off his strong jab. Pa would probably win 2 out of the first 3 rounds. As the rounds go by, otto will be landing his straight right down the pipe and his jab mixing it with a occasinal left hook to the body. After the 5th round, paquiao will be a bit hurt and retreating. the Miguel will proceed to walk Pac down and Ko him in the eight with a hard left hook to the head!!!!!!!!
It starts out a: High speed chess match with very good action at times...competitive fight and turns into a Brawl with both guys trading power shots for the most part.
I have no doubt that neither fighter will let this become a boring fight at any time, even if the other wants to make it that.
If Pacquiao wants to box from a distance, Cotto will attack. If Cotto wants to backpedal Pacquiao will attack.
I think the fight will play out as a combination of what Champ and Queloque said... manny will wait to get attacked like he did in the hatton fight and cotto will remain just outside manny range waiting for him to make an offesive move theN BAAMMMMM!!!!
