Amir Khan wins a world title last night. He is a WORLD CHAMPION but according to the boxing community he is a "bum", a "fraud" and "sucks".
Why would anybody take this sport seriously when its own fans make great boxers out to be complete bums?
You may think Khan is a weak champion...you may think he wont be champion for long...but the fact of the matter is he has beaten a few good fighters now and a great, genuine world champion in Kotelnik to win the belt.
It just puzzles me why the boxing community now has Floyd Mayweather's "If you aint undefeated you aint shit" mentality. Stop degrading the sport.

I personally have not shieted on Khan for winning, I picked him to win based on his opponent and I will pick him to lose against Maidana. Why can't a person say they know Khan will lose soon enough? He is not that great. Yes he won but his streak will be short. As soon as he fights a heavy handed bum for that matter, it will be lights out. He just ain't got the chin. As long as he sticks to fighting soft hitters, he will be fine.
boxing is not dying. and who are those two bums in your avatar next to dana white?
go to a boxing gym a tell them the sport is dying. walk in their with you gee and your yellow belt on too.

I agree, same can be said about the Punisher, people sh*t on him as he travels across 3 divisions trying to fight the best, while the big stars of the sport cherrypick and look for catchweights and sh*t to serve as advantages and those are the fighters fans want to support!!An undefeated record don't mean nothing if all u done was dance around the threats to ur 0,fight elite fighters,an if u lose fight em again, show quality by taking risks, not cherrypicking!!Look at Gatti, limited skills but he wasn't scared, name a boxing fan who didn't like him!!!
nooo.... boxing is dying becuz we don't have an american heavyweight champion in shape.
LMFAO.

LONG MAY THE KOs CONTINUE.
Eddie Chambers is also a very decent boxer who now has a good resume. So there is one.
It's funny how "disagreeing" automatically makes you a "hater" lol
I for one do not believe Khan had earned a shot at a world title at 140. That's my opinion. And for me, whats even more detrimental to boxing than "hate posts" is the practice of certain fighters getting an undeserved shot at a title, and then most likely only looking to cash out, rather than to fight the fights that would give the title the proper respect. Nothing hurts the credibility of a title more than it not being defended properly. And the WBA played a big part in this. They allowed Khan-Kotelnik for the title, Ortiz-Maidana for an interim title, all the while already having a mandatory challenger in Salita. But Khan and Ortiz represented enough money that the WBA just said to hell with the rules.
If the thread starter really was concerned about boxing's credibility, he would have started a thread about how the WBA should have ordered Kotelnik-Salita, and then made Ortiz-Maidana as a mandatory eliminator, and let Khan wait his turn.
And before anyone starts babbling about Salita not being a worthy #1, maybe thats true. But its no worse than the WBA inserting Khan at #5 without ever fighting at 140, ahead of guys like Holt, Campbell, and Alvarado.........
Exactly. 100% agree.

hes not a champ.
pacquiao is the 140 champ. bradley has the second most legitimate claim to 140 hatton probably the third.
wba is the biggest joke, so is khan. he didnt even earn the title shot he cherry picked the easiest title he could find.
couldn't get one at 135, but figured kotelnik might be beatable at 140. bradley hatton pac werent so he didnt fight them.
what title do you have? lol
if khan is a joke fighter, then how big of a joke are you? lmao
its the americans fault, they are the ones ruining boxing with their ultra-nationalistic and xeno phobic attitude. americans will NEVER give respect to brittish or european fighters.
:tool: can you kill yourself lol

There comes a point where one just has to ignore the hate, block out the trash and enjoy the sport. I've got into the habit of skipping posts by certain members, simply on the basis that they always chat shit - and why would anyone stop to read or respond to excrement?
And in the end, why on Earth would Khan give a care in the world as to what a bunch of haters think about him on a silly little boxing forum, during their sad and pathetic lives? He's a young world champ making millions. :laff2:
he didnt deserve that shot! give me 1 good reason why he did!? its meant to be a sport not a mafia...
You get what you negotiate. He may not have deserved his shot, but boxing is a business, first and foremost. Khan's name and Olympic success means big money. Kotelnik probably made a career high payday too. At the end of the day, Khan is a world champion now, and beat a very good champion to achieve it.
It's the internet. As we speak right now someone is on MarthaStewartLiving.com hating on planting herb gardens in mid spring, someone is on addidas.com hating on Pumas, someone is on veganismnow.com hating on morningstars vegan burger patties claiming they process an ingredient on the same machines they process milk products.
It's the internet. If people hating on the internet killed things, the entire world would cease to exist.

I'm a fan of boxing, period. People should give Khan props for moving up and winning convincingly. Surely any true fan of boxing would find an upcoming fighter like Khan great for the sport. And his chin means his fights will a;ways be exciting!
I don't understand this mentality of only supporting winners. It's just fanboy nonsense.
thanks to his promotors... come down off your high horse you know he didnt deserve that shot he wasnt in the division 5 mins for ffs!
So what? You make yor own choices in life. Kessler signed with a man more protective than Frank Warren and he paid the price.

Very true I despise some of the posters on this site they bring shame to our sport, and lets not forget this is the toughest sport in the world. However a lot of people on here call them pussies, glass jawed, garbage, useless, fraud etc. the fact of the matter is these guys have obviously never stepped in the ring because if they did they would respect ALL fighters. I tip my hat to ANYONE who is prepared to give this sport a go, because it is godddamn tough.
Khan just needs to be more impressive with time.
His one round KO loss is his Achilles heel, which he must prove was only a fluke due to inexperience.
He'll gain more fans once he steps up the competition and wins impressively
and with some big knockouts.
He's got a good trainer in Freddie Roach.
It's on him to wow the fans the world over.
If he follows Roach's tutelage like Paciauo did, he has true world level potential. Let's not kid ourselves, what he won last night was a bullshit title. Don't go get ahead of yourself and hype this guy up so much and then get let down when he gets Barrera'd.Imagine him in the ring right now with a fighter like Miguel Cotto though, it would be brutal. He is young, and just needs to keep feasting on Kotelnik caliber champs before he nuts up and goes after a killer liker Cotto.
How was it a bullshit title? He beat a very strong, world class opponent to win last night. He deserves the title of world champion.
But I agree, Khan needs to beat the Salita's, Mallignaggi's, Hatton's, Campbell's and the Diaz's of the world before he steps up to the real elite. No way is he ready to fight the likes Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, or Pacquaio yet. Not for another two years at least.

The fact that you compare whether or not Boxing will sink or swim based on others opinion of Amir Khan lets me know you're a dumbass anyway. No idea why I responded to the thread to be honest.
