Was Kotelnik Euro level fighter or a World Class fighter? I dont care if he was a TITLE HOLDER, he was not a World Class fighter and if there were only one belt out there Kotelnik would not get a sniff of it because he is not World Class, if there were an established Champ and one belt he would be nothing more than a tough contender.
Sometimes throughout Boxing you see World Champions that you know are good fighters but they are not World Class and Kotelnik is a case in point.
Call me hater but i will take notice of Khan's achievements when he shows what he can do against World Class opposition, not Euro title holders.
Poll to come.
The best thing to come of this is that now MAYBE he will fight a World Class fighter to let us know if he can cut it at the top, having said that with Warren as his promoter he might be fighting a blown up SFW.
A post by Machine...............Khan did say that he felt Kotelnik was not only the worst world champion in the division or any division actually, he thought Kotelnik was the worst world champion in boxing history.
This is purely objective on peoples opinion on what a world class fighter is, you can't move the goal posts and say he is a world class contender not a world class champion, that is not what the thread asks.
In my opinion he is clearly a world class fighter, if he was only european level, trust me he wouldn't have competed with witter, beat maidana. Witter is not exceptional but he is a solid world class operator, I thought like many kotelnik beat him. The khan match up was a bad style for him. Kotelnik would pose serious stylistic problems for many of the other top fighters in the division, but he will alway struggle against speed + good work rate, and is not on the level of bradley or holt, but I think he could def pick up wins over urango, torres, malignaggi who I consider world class fighters.
Kotlelnik has world class punch accuracy, defense, and chin. His speed is pretty decent but power is probably sub-par at world level. All in all, I would say he is def world class, not a particularly strong world class fighter, he isn't gonna unify belts and is limited at world level, but definitely belongs, and is clearly capable of beating other world class fighters as he has already proved in my eyes, surely if he can beat other world class fighters, he is world class himself.
This is as close as it came.
He was thinking Fat Yank.
Tip of the tongue shit right there, only i think he might already know im a Brit.
Shit i just rumbled myself.:pat:
Im surprised i have not been told im a stupid biased Fat Yank. :boxing:

Kotelnik beat Maidana, so I guess he's European level.
Lets not forget he's rated above Holt, Urango, Malignaggi and Ortiz @ 140 Lbs. But I guess he's just a little Euro bum.

Kotelnik is neither World-class nor Euro-level. He is somewhere inbetween. Kotelnik is a solid professional with a good technique and a fighting spirit, but he was matched against a fighter all wrong for him tonight. Khan was too quick, too disciplined and ultimately too athletic.
I'm not championing Kotelnik, but remember that his only blemishes pre-Khan were all disputable and that he beat the then unbeaten Maidana who has since stopped Ortiz. He isn't World-class, but he certainly isn't Euro-level either.
Yes on reflection i think it was a bit harsh to call him a Euro fighter, but i do think he is just above that level.
You should know when a Brit sees" Euro level" he immediately gets insecure and starts to use satire. As a Limey you should know this.

Also Kotelnik if was that well thought of then how come safety first Warren was willing to let Amir jump up to 140lbs to fight him, and you know Warren aint letting his boy go up there to fight a bigger man who is a current World Champ, unless he is not that good.
Not completely untrue but even Warren worried about Khan's chances against Kotelnik, BPP posted that article 2 weeks ago

That comment was made during negotiations, and obviously worked in getting Kotelnik to fight Khan instead of Ortiz. Plus Maidana's win over Ortiz gave more stock to Kotelnik.
Kotelnik is a world class fighter, but not an elite. He would last the distance and give any top 140 pounder a good fight.
