Because...
-Kotelnik is going to take him the distance (or is very likely to) meaning that khan will have to stay in the ring for 12 rounds without getting k.o'd
-Kotelnik is a veteran with WAY more experience than khan
-Khans had 1 fight at 140 3 years ago and got knocked down (argueably) by a bum
-Kotelnik is a tested champion who had defended his belt successfully, not a paper champion
-Less than a year khan got KTFO, now hes fighting for a world title
IF khan wins this fight will members stop hating and going 'LOL CHINNY HYPEJOB A MERE CON' because he will be the WBA champion, hes not longer a 'chinny hypejob' but a world champion fair and square (assuming no bs decision)
Khan gets way too much hate, cant you apprechiate a guy whos exciting to watch with fast hands and a tendancy to get into good fights?
Who else can he fight that won't KTFO inside 3?
If Paulie beats Diaz, then Khan fights Paulie...
There's not a chance in hell that Diaz will lose to Paulie, though. I have no idea what the latter will do after he gets beat for 12 rounds, but fighting top contenders isn't one of them. He might as well retire.
Khan-Diaz wouldn't be all bad, though. It's not as if Baby Bull is a KO puncher - just a busy banger who cuts easily.
What if malignaggi somehow beat khan by UD? That would be a HUUUGE upset
He fought horrendously against Hatton, who is a notoriously busy guy. With Khan's handspeed, stamina and overall activity he'd stand no chance of UD'ing him.
Yikes, forget I said anything. If he fought Paulie, he'd never gain an ounce of respect ever again in his entire career... :yuck:

Best fight for him next is Malignaggi.

Khans skinny though, i dont think hes quite ready for WW yet, maybe in his later 20s. People like cotto shane and clottey will make khan look like a stick man.
I think LWW will be his best division
Twiglet legs are what he has. :laff2: I'm sure he can grow into his body as he ages. By rights he's not even close to prime yet.
He shouldn't even be thinking about 147 until he's had a feel for real competition at 140. Should he get through Saturday night, the door is wide open for him.
There are so many guys he could face in 2 loaded divisions - Prescott, Valero, Maidana, Ortiz, Katsidis, Bradley, Holt, Juan Diaz, Malignaggi, Campbell, Guzman, Witter, Urango, Funeka...
I think that was more to do with the Olympics thing. He's always looked massive for 135, so I always figured he would have no trouble jumping around between LW and LWW.
Beef him up even more and he could be a fuckin WW! He'd be taller than Cotto, Floyd, Shane and Clottey. :shk1:

According to boxrec, this is a fuzzy issue actually, the media always built him up as a lightweight if i remember rightly

Wasn't a KD, and his first 12 fight (minus one in between) were at 140.

maidana would be suisidal unless roach was sure khan would be ok, that guy is like the valero (maybe better) of the LWW division
Prescott/maidana/valero=HUGE punchers, khan will have to face at least one of them in the future to be great
Agreed, IF IF IF IF (because to me kotenlik/khans 50/50) he beats kotelnik who does khan fight? Maidana? Prescott? Hatton? All of those guys look likely and all could probably destroy him if he isnt perfect
warren wont let him near a maidana, guarantee
Agreed.
It's where he goes after this win that interests me - this is just a milestone.

Brit fighters don't win there FIRST World title by fighting the toughest title holder out there - That's just the way it is with us and especially with Khan being a Frank Warren fighter so you can't dig him out for that IMO.

who did he fight at 140 by the way?
ye no doubt its a tougher fight than people think
but its also the easiest way he could win a world title, imo
Agreed.
