How can someone actually be a FAN of Mayweather?

floyd mayweather is a role model to kids who imitae his moveset when they fight....trust me, i've seen many, many kids imitating him....he has never said or claimed he was a role model, infact, he has claimed he wasn't a role model many times....but he is so ****ing gifted with his fighting style that kids and other fighters can't help but imitate him....oscar, shane, cotto has used floyd's moves, clottey used them onjudah, judah has even imitated floyd in training and actual fights.....i've noticed cotto using floyd's defense against margarito until he realized he wasn't good enough to make it work....shane didn't jab to the body until watching floyd do it, and be very effective with it.....pacquiao even imitated floyd in the hatton fight....they know he's the most skilled fighter of the modern era, and technically speaking, maybe the most skilled ever....that's why i respect floyd---he can contradict himself all day long in press conferences and media day interviews and shit like that...that's never impressed me.... in that ring, where it truly counts, that mother****er is the truth.....he doesn't play in that ring, and his skillset in that ring, is brilliant, which is why he is called a naturally gifted fighter, but more important than even that, he is called a brilliant fighter...merchant says virtuoso a lot when describing how he fights....that's all that should matter in this sport, period....

I've never quite understood it, either. As a fighter, it's obvious why he has fans... but his shit-talking gets old real quick. Clearly his fans can't get enough of it, or they're just immune to it. Me, I don't have the patience to listen to him constantly - he's so repetitive.

i used to like the dude until he started retiring after every fight & waitng until all his top competition had a fight then picking the weakest out the bunch. then retire again until all the top competition had a fight. using money as reasons to not fight people. as a fan i dont care who makes what b/c 9/10 im watching the shit anyways (vs, espn, hbo, showtime, or ppv). even if idont pay for it ima find a bar thats showing it. i dont even mind hi saying hethe best ever b/c if u dont feel like ur the best then why fight but u have to prove. theres no such thing as i dont have to prove nothing in boxing. as long as u are fighting u have to prove u can beat the man in the other corner. u cant say im not fighting hm b/c he got 5 losses esp if u havent fought & beat the people he fought. dude is a hell of a boxer im just turned of by the shit he do.

I agree completely, i think you have to seperate floyd the boxer and floyd the person. I think you have to be objectivein judging him. He is an exceptional talent and athlete who has shown great dedication and skill. However, he is consumed by money, bases everything of value in life on money. This isn't something i personally respect and i don't think he is a good sportsman or a good role model for kids.

I just watched the second interview he had with Brian Kenny and the only thing he says is "I have more money than anyone....I make so much money...how much money do you make Brian?...Nobody gets more money than me that's why they call me Money Mayweather..." Sure I respect him as a fighter, but how can anyone actually be a fan of this dude? I don't mind people who run their mouth, but talking about how rich you are alllll the time and trying to make other people feel inferior by rubbing it in their face that he's so much more rich then they are just ticks me off. Dude's an arrogant prick who has an entourage of dick suckers, whose vocabulary only consists of "Yesssir Mr. Mayweather....right away Mr. Mayweather...you're the greatest ever Mr Mayweather...you make so much money Mr. Mayweather..." Again...he's a hellll of a fighter, but I will never be a fan. The way I see it, if you feel offended because the way he acts make you feel inferior, then you are indeed inferior. I'm a big fan of Floyd, in and outside the ring.

I know what you mean. Some posters are missing the point. He is ] great to watch (well, Mayweather the brawler is) and very skillfull but talks out of his arse constantly. The shit that he spews out and his lovers lap up like sick puppies makes me want to gag.

i like watching mayweather. his skill and speed of hand and foot are unreal. when i watch him he is the true art of boxing, hit and not be hit. he defence is amazing. i think he is great to watch personally.
