Any thoughts? I wouldn't mind seeing a fight between these two. I was looking at the upcoming fight schedule for the next few months. it always seems that next to Junior's name you see the infamous TBA. Then a few weeks before his bout you get some unknown with a 30% Ko ratio lined up for a TOP RANK PPV. I was looking this morning and saw the latest tomatoe can in the long line of cab drivers that junior has fought penciled in for a March 28th PPV. It dawned on me that Duddy vs Chavez Jr would be a good bout and honestly I wouldn't mind paying to see it...Any thoughts from you fellas?....Lefty
do he did beat him the second time pretty easy. and duddy has just been beat by journyman Billy Lyell.
Duddy has changed his pormotion company adn his style in the last 12 months...Chavez jr is 23 but truly I do not think he has it....He can improve but he and his handlers choose not to have him step up. What he may need is a loss to get rid of the "0" and then we will see how he rebounds from that. But if he losses to one of these hand picked bums it will be a shame. Duddy is not the next BIG thing either but I think a match between the two would be fun to watch and they are both on the same level in my eyes anyway....Lefty
Duddy by early ko JCCjr could not even beat Matt vanda convincingly.

From what I saw in JCC Jr's last fight he needs to retire....Thaty guy had no pop and was giving him problems....A step to El Perro would be fatality....Vero Phillips would be a better option but truly I think he needs to stickt to what he is doing or fight guys like Duddy or Phillipsforget about El Perro he will steam roll him....Lefty
TBH i dont know about retirement. he may aswell test himself, before giving up without even trying. and the thing he has got on his side is age, he is only 23 and is still learning.
so i dont think retirement is the right move. but he needs to be more tested against some good 154 fighters.
It would be nice for JCC Jr to take a step up in comp. Someone like a Verno Phillips or a Alfredo Angullo would be great. He has now had 40 fights wininng 39 with one draw. he needs to take a step up soon.

I get what you're saying, but you can't really fault Top Rank for doing what they're doing with JCC Jr. because it makes them money, JCC Jr. has a pretty good sized fanbase who buy his PPVs who in turn makes Bob Arum and Co. some good money so I don't really blame them for putting on those PPVs even though they are in actuality ripping the fans off because most of those guys really don't stand much of a chance at winning.
Chavez Jr. has shown some heart before, in the Vanda fight, in the Sanchez fight (which was a lower level FOTY candidate) and one other fight which I forget at the moment where he was behind but knocked the guy out in 5 rounds or something but it is true that he hasn't had to battle through adversity in the ring as much as Duddy has.
Just for the record the Lyell fight shouldn't have been a SD, Lyell couldn't miss with his right hand all night, I thought he was a clear victor.
But you're right, Duddy would be a good opponent for JCC Jr. and would make for a better main event for one of those Latin Fury PPVs than what we're gotten in the past with a JCC headlined card but Top Rank won't do it, it has more of a chance happening after 1 of them has suffered a loss or 1 more loss in Duddy's case.
At least we are on the same wave length Silencers....I was not claiming Duddy to be a bette fighter or a class A fighter I was claiming him to be more recognizable and worthy opponent than what Chavez has been facing. I was not saying I would like to pay for any Chavez fght but on a Saturday night when it is cold or boring or I am stuck with the kids to pay $29.00 to see Chavez vs Duddy would be a better option then to see Chavez vs TBA.....Lefty
my point to the thread was I am sick and TIRED of these TOP RANK PVV cards where the TBA is next to the name of his fighters up until the last 3 or 4 weeks. They charge you 29.99 to watch the fight it is not even offered in HD. Duddy although I know he is not a A Class fighter more of a club fighter has a style and most of the time is exciting. he is a blood and guts warrior. Yes he has been trying to box more and I think that may have cost him his last fight. he is still trying to adapt to his new trainer and learn to wait and counter use his feet and jab. It is understood. While he may not be progressing the way we would have liked to see him do he is still head and shoulders above Chavez Junior in the heart department. At least from the few fights I have seen from Chavez jr I have not seen him really tested maybe against Vanda but that was it. I still think that even with Duddy's 1 lone loss by SD he could still be a good match up against Chavez jr on a PPV card like the ones they have been putting Junior on. If Duddy can rebound in his next fight and win by TKO/Ko I would love to see it happen....Lefty

Funnily enough I think Duddy can outbox JCC even though Duddy is not the best boxer. A brawl can easily happen though, if it becomes a brawl I think it'll be a close decision for either guy.
I think Arum doesn't want to risk a loss for either guy, Duddy should still be a pretty good draw on the East coast with his Irish background even after his loss but one more loss could lower his drawing power, especially since he now seems to have adopted more of a boxing style.
JCC Jr. needs that 0, plain and simple IMO. If he loses that 0, there goes those Latin Fury PPVs.

And you don't think that Chavez's 39-0 record is a joke too? I think they are both on the same level and would provide a exciting fight. I rather see them go at it then watch Chavez fight his latest stiff....Lefty
Chavez record is a joke,
hes been fighting the same level of bums as john has a john has been troubled on a few occasions i dont watch duddys fights no more,
hes a boring over rated boxer, but if a fight with Chavez happened i would prob tune in,
wouldnt pay for it tho
Because John Duddy is a joke,
im irish and even i can admit that

john duddy is one or was one of the most overrated fighters there has been. chavez aint brillant but i think he would defeat duddy!
would of been a pretty big fight if duddy had his 0
