I just seen the first Paulie Ayala fight.
It was very competitve fight and some rounds is very very hard to say who won.
But my question is coming to that fight Johhny Tapia was undeafted in 46 fights as well as he was 3 time world champion. But people rarely mentioning him as a good fighter in BS
Naz had a personality problem and bad managment around him.
Naz at the end of his career he train less and less every fight and only depended on his talent. Even in the Barrera fight he was not training to his full potential. But that what you get if you slack off.
Naz also depended on his relfex and speed which kinda went down after every fight.
anyway this isnt a Nassem Hamed vs Johnny Tapia thread but it more of a tribute to one of boxing most exicting fighter and remeber him.
I rarely seen a thread talking about Tapia or even mentioning him so it good just to hear what people think about him from time to time.
Also I just new to boxing and Tapia prime was in the late 90s. So this is another reason I wanted to know more about him as an opion from other people.
all the boxing he's seen was probably highlights of hamed doing something cool on youtube, and maybe a few hatton fights down at the pub that he can't really remember watching because he was pissed
Are you fookin serious?
Looking down on me know and thinkin you know me because i reckon Naz wud of KO'd your boyfriend?
Ive seen a hell of alot of Tapia's fights and i think naz is a fcukin Twat but was a hell of talent,
i wont let my personal opinions on him overshadow his talent!
I know Johnny Tapia had fast hands, fast feet, power, and precision.
Can never take that away from him,
but to say he is underated i dont think so.
He's had a Hall of Fame caliber boxing career,
and i dont think anyone can dispute that!
His achievements outweigh his troubles outside the ring in my opinon anyway.
Wayne McCullogh was a good fighter and very tough, he did indeed have a great chin and got hit much more than Tapia...So yeah maybe his chin was better. But Tapia had much better skills and defence, Hamed wouldnt be hitting him much at all.
Look guys like Hamed are great to watch (i happen to like hamed a lot and he was great for the lower weight classes) but they don't last long. Once they are in there with a elite level well schooled boxer who isnt intimidated by speed or power they are fucked. They thrive off fighting stupid fighters who just rush in and trade, a smart fighter like Tapia would have kept Hamed moving, not letting him get his feet set to throw his big powershots, peppering him, tapia would either be too close to hit or too far out of range, and when hamed did try to throw a big powershot tapia would slide back, exploiting hameds bad technique and then counter. Simple.
I guarantee he's seen Tapia fight...once? If that.
Moron??
Shut the fcuk ya little faggit and read what i said,
i believe wayne mc cullough had a better chin then Tapia and i also believe that if Tapia and Naz met he would of KO'd tapia.
End of.
yeah but you have no basis for this belief. Tapia had a GREAT chin and I doubt very much Hamed would've KO'ed him. Your logic is strange (the Ingle fight??). Using that kind of weird logic I could argue that Tapia had more KO power than Hamed because Cesar Soto went 12 with Naz and Tapia got him out of there in three. But I don't believe that. Just like I don't believe you know what you're talking about.
Tapia would have boxed Hamed's ears off
and to the moron that questioned Tapia's chin, if i recall the only time he has been stopped was off a bodyshot when he was well past it, he had a great chin

Dammit, why did you have to ruin it? I was waiting for his response!
He ko'ed 31 out of 36 boxers he beat,
the first to go 12rounds with him was wayne mc cullough and dont even try and compare his chin to tapia's
Why shouldnt I compare their chins?
It would be similar in the outcome is what you're suggesting? Possibly but Tapia is much, much better than Ingle and took a much, much better shot. it's not like Hamed KO'ed everyone he faced and few were better than Tapia.

Im not comparing the two im comparing how i think the fights would be similar,
sure tapia is a better fighter

Tapia is world's better than Ingle. Not even sure why you made that comparison.

Would of been similar to Naz vs Paul Ingle,
Ingle gave him some trouble and landed flush on a few occassions,
just took one shot tho to finish paul and thats what happened.
Id say a fight with Tapia would of ended the same way

I don't think so. I think Naz would've had a very, very tough time with Tapia.

Depends on where you rate him. In his prime he really was one of the best boxers in the game. Not great power but incredible skills, a great chin and fighting heart. But he's mainly to blame because his prime was short and he didn't receive several opportunities to shine, whether it was fighters avoiding him (Hamed) or his own personal issues.
He was a coke head, a shame but i reckon naz would off ko'ed him
