One of those fights that literally couldn't be boring. I mean, there is just no way for that one to end via boring decision or through an anti-climactic retirement in the corner.
Both guys would be gunning for the KO, and both guys would have to work hard for it.
True plenty of fighters have done well who didn't have great natural ability but rather solid fundamentals, like Glen Johnson while we are on the subject of the LHW picture.
Johnson is the perfect example. At LHW, I think Hopkins was like that, too. He was in great shape and had great fundamentals.
Alot of fighters influenced by Roy Jones and others like him maybe???
Roy Jones sort of revolutionized it. Michael Nunn and Whittaker were doing it too. But Roy brought it to the masses..
Whatever the case may be though- it's not a good idea. You can't base your fundamentals off of guys who basically fought on instinct.
I haven't seen enough of Cloud to say if he could beat Pascal, what I seen of him I have liked though, and Pascal needs to keep his hands up more against a puncher like Cloud. A bad habit like that could be a problem for him.
Pascal is in the new school of fighters like Gamboa (starting back with Jermain Taylor imo) who are ridiculously reliant on their reflexes.
We'd always had the odd fighter here and there like this in the past, but now it's commonplace.
He was in line for a shot at Dawson but I guess that fight wasn't marketable so it didn't happen. So I think he should get a crack at Pascal because he was already a mandatory for a belt anyway.....it would also be a good fight too.
Oh yeah.. Pascal would win it, but I wouldn't bet any money on that one. Seen Pascal rocked too many times to be overconfident about him beating a puncher like Cloud.
How about Tavoris Cloud vs anybody......I mean how long ago has he been on the sidelines, get that man a fight someone please.
For real, for real.
I wanna see him vs. Jean Pascal, Diaconu or Chris Henry.
All 3 of those are can't-miss kind of entertaining fights.
Nope. My FOTY choice is still Taylor-Froch. :boxing:
Maybe it earns brownie points because it meant more to the overall climate of boxing, but this fight would just be flat out more entertaining.
All out slugging until the end... Taylor-Froch had dull moments aplenty. Just the tables being turned aspect is what makes people love it. Great fight, though.

This would be a blowout my dude, Cloud has every advantage except chin (because I haven't seen him get hit).
Gonzalez isn't what he was, but Tavoris put it on him every round throwing 60-70-80 punches with pop and a shoulder roll as his d.
