First man to get KTFO by both Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler at Caesar's Palace.....first man to get KTFO by Iran Barkley in a title fight.....not to mention the most overhyped fighter to lose every big fight he was in.....yep, that's the GOAT.
Poet
His destruction of Roberto Duran not withstanding? Also, he was shafted in his rematch with SRL that ended in a draw
I take it that Wilfred Benetiz is a tomato can in your opinion?
No, Ali isn't "the greatest", he's top-ten though. I've watched almost all of Ali's wins and he isn't nearly as impressive as the writers made/make him sound. I think he tends to get overrated because of his political activism controversies like draft dodging and his "black power" ties to the racist Malcolm X.
He did beat some truly great fighters and so he's has to be one of the greatest, but as you say, the media do enjoy over-rating the man.

He isn't the greatest boxer ever. I will agree with the greatest heavyweight but the greatest boxer ever, I will argue against that.
I like Tommy Hearns as p4p the G.O.A.T, my reasoning behind this is because look at the guy's accomplishments.

Oh, I see: "Kill the messenger not the message". He was broke, so? He drank, so? That broke drunk guy was the trainer of Ali.
Moreover I base my statements on Foreman's words, too:

No more ignore the messager and disbelieve the message.
Ever heard that people who have a tired old story and no money make up new bits to earn sell the same old story?
That he actively never TRAINED Ali doesn't matter. As the co-trainer he has been close enough for us to take his "Foreman poisoning" allegations seriously.
Nope that would only be YOU that takes his allegations seriously.
Drunk and broke, the cash cow retired with no spare cash for him, now lets think.... everyone has heard all the old storys lets make up something new and controversial.
I've reported you for that. My grand uncle died in combat fighting the Nazis near Minsk, my grandfather had wounds that affected him for the rest of his life. Another grand uncle was captured at Sevastopol and suffered in a Nazi POW camp (Russian POWs were treated worse than Americans).
My family paid a big price in WW II - I'm fed up with you calling me a Nazi.
Is that a stagnant pond or the stinking grass I can smell?
Ali only said he was the greatest. There have been many better HWs.
who and why? they all lost.... at the end of the day its all about winning and ali beat every good heavyweight of his time.
