Just watched a vid..... Corrie Sanders TKO2 Bobby Czyz
Hadn't observed Sanders in a long time, but while watching him in this, it suddenly dawned on me... Although a southpaw, he moves & throws punches in almost exactly the same way as Tyson Fury.. They're also very similar in size, body shape & looks.. I think Sanders is a good measuring stick in assessing just how good a prospect Fury is....
The vid is on Cotto's post My Trainer says I remind him of.............
Comments by invitation please.....
Well, theyre similar size in the fact theyre both massive, however Fury is 3 inches taller than Sanders, making him a gigantic 6'7.
Fury's shape is down to his short time in the game, Sanders is down to the fact he liked playing golf rather than training for fights. Sanders did however have surprisingly good balance (esp, for his size) cause he was a really good rugby player back in SA.
I dont think its fair to compare someone whos had a few domestic fights, to someone with 41 (?) pro fights, including those for titles on the world stage. It's all moot imo, Fury could change drastically as he progresses, a lot of Sanders attributes (size and frame) were due to his lifestyle and lack of dedication.
Also Sanders had ingrained fast hands and hefty power, he rocked Vitali for gods sake!
This is merely a prospectus.. Ie: This is what Fury will be like when he's had more fights..
Fury is well known for his dislike of running & even looks quite funny doing it..
I think there are impending similarities.. wouldn't mind studying some of Sanders early fights in order to gain a fairer comparison.. Anyone have?
