Honestly, how much credit will cotto get when he most likely beats manny. Manny has proven he can bring his power and speed with him moving up, but he has rarely been hit, and there is a huge difference in a beast like cotto cutting weight to ww, and manny moving up. I'm a pac fan, and i hope he wins, but i'm not delusional. Is it not safe to say, that even thou clottey isn't regarded as a huge puncher, that he probably hits as hard as manny at 145-147? And rightfully so, he should since he walks around at 175.
I guess the reason for this question, is i'm seeing alot of cotto fans bragging and saying he's gonna ko manny. And i should fkn hope that a man as big as cotto and regarded as one of the hardest punching ww rightnow, can impose his will on pac.
I think the moment they raise Cotto's hand the haters will start saying he picked on the little man, they will forget about the little man scouting Cotto and calling Arum to say give me Cotto,be carefull what u ask for!
Weight or no weight either fighter will get a lot of credit in my opinion.
Pacman has the most to lose however...a loss to cotto would drop him from the top p4p spot. If cotto loses it will be a big impact currently but in terms of legacy in the future i dont think it will hurt him as bad because people will remember cotto losing to the top p4p fighter of that time...which of course theres no shame in that in terms of legacy.
If cotto wins i think it makes him a huge star overnight. despite the size. or weight class.
or course no matter who wins i expect fans of the loser to blame it on the weight (either manny going up and fighting a bigger guy; or cotto going down and draining himself a bit to fight pacman). so thats a give-in.
but historically from this fight a lot will be remembered in the future. the de-crowning of the p4p champion of the sport (or crowing of one) is always a big deal.
As far as credit goes though for RIGHT NOW i think its going to be mixed emotions mattering on who wins.
regardless if the fight is reasonably close i can see a rematch occuring in the future. maybe even at a different weight (one that favors the loser who may use the excuse of weight).
ill give cotto his due.....he will come in as the underdog for their fight......
that is why im puzzled as to why people are underestimating Pac's win over Oscar when 18 out of 20 boxing "experts" predicted Oscar would KTFO Pacman.....
He should get all the credit in the world. He'll be an underdog. Pac is dangerous. He's proven as much. Beating the lineal 140 Champ is a pretty decent accomplishment in itself.
we'll trade you sasha vujabrick for trevor ariza :D
I really wanted for Trevor Ariza to play for the dominican basketball team... so we can beat them by 20+ points with them having Francisco Garcia, Al Horford, Charlie Villanueva, Trevor Ariza and Julio Toro..... just kidding Dominicano Soy:fingersx:
The way I look at it how can he not get credit for beating the 1 p4p even if pac is the smaller man
Because, p4p is mythical, and when you take that away, your left with reality. Which is a beast of a ww in cotto, beating up on a blown up lightweight. I truley believe when you have world class skill, size does matter.
not much..from me anyway..givin the circumstances of the fight he SHOULD win..of course if he loses its gonna be all bad for him. I think Manny is in somewhat in a win/win situation..i mean if he loses then its like you cant really blame him cus he fought a top welterweight ect ect...if he wins..well I dont think i have ta explain what will happen...The only people that might give him full credit are the mainstream boxing fans

How much credit? He gets a 110 bucks from me.
No uppercut? Yea mabey not yet, but you know thats what they will be working on all training camp
That can also be a mistake. A fighter who isn't used to throwing uppercuts, throwing them.
I'm gonna give Cotto alot of credit. Pacquiao doesn't have an uppercut, Cotto is gonna have to establish a jab early on, plant his foot alot less and go in there with a high guard. He shouldn't open up too much, pick his shots wisely.
