I disagree.. Please NEVER speak poorly Of Eubank again.. Thank You
I ain't speaking 'poorly' of Eubank. IMO he got a couple of gift decisions in the two fights i've mentioned.
Eubank was one of my all time favorites too!
I think that Jones, Toney and McClellan would have beaten him. But none would have annihilated him IMHO, decisions all round.
I think Eubank would have beaten Nunn.
yeah eubank reminds me of hopkins in that i think he would have lost to the truly great fighters but he would have tested them for sure

With all due respect to G-Man, he would not have been able to dent Eubank. Not even wobble him, to be honest. Eu would have beaten him MUCH easier in my mind than I could see him beating Michael Nunn.
There was nothing lucky about the 2nd Watson fight. That uppercut was unbelievable, one of the best I've seen.
The best!
Other good'ns..
Tyson Carl Williams
Tyson Douglas (long count)
Benn Eubank 1 (would have ktfo anyone else)
Mercer Morrison (almost decapitates him)
Foreman Cooney (night night Gerry)
Bruno Jameson (stunned the audience)

Spot on my man!
Great quote regarding the similarities between Eubank & Griffith to...
Especially the lisp... lol

Yeah Eubank was very lucky in the 2nd he was about to be stopped and was way behind on my card but landed that monster uppercut, despite its terrible outcome the 11th round of Watson Eubank 2 was one the most dramatic rounds of boxing I have seen. There first fight was much closer though I gave it to Watson by a single point.
Absolutely! I'm rarely surprised at the outcome of any fight, but that one was almost a surprise in every round.. Eubank being put on the back foot & made to look amateurish was a surprise in itself.. Although dramatic, you're right, the finale was upsetting..
I remember the post fight interview (before Chris was aware of Watsons plight)
And Eubank (I'm sure regretfully) protested that Michael should be immediately tested for performance enhancing drugs.. He was as shocked as everyone else, minus 'that' uppercut, he knew he'd been owned that night..
Some people don't like Eubank, mainly because of his eccentric posture.. The truth is, he's a really nice fella & was a really good entertainer.. I think he could'a given all the top USA fighters problems.. No ones gonna KO him, that's for sure! Regards MM
i can't remeber much about the second Benn fight but imo the first fight with Watson was a clear decision for watson. i had watson winning by a few points and when eubank was given the nod i really felt for watson, he didn't have the eubank's flair or benns tenacity so i think he was sometimes overlooked by the mainstream/casual fans and overlooked for the big fights.
watson imo beat both benn and eubank and yet to some of the general public he is not as well known.
in the second fight watson fought like a man posessed, that was only one of two times (the second being against joe) that i saw eubank with a strange look on his face. Eubank normally was in control, never flustered and gave the impression of complete confidence in his abilities but vs calzaghe and watson II in particular he looked like he knew he was out of his depth.
as for the benn fight i've not seen that one in a long time but i think i had it a draw.
These are four of my favorite fights, such a shame about what happened to Watson in the second fight.
I personally scored the first Watson fight by one round to Eubank, Watson finished much stronger and had Chris toppling everywhere in the tenth, no suprise that many thought he won, but Chris did bag several rounds early (it seemed to take a while for Watson to get going, bit like Hagler vs Leonard) and Chris only needed to bag something like one round between rounds seven and twelve to clinch the decision. He was the champion I suppose.
Watson 2 was a superb fight, Chris started well with some great combinations but Watson's conditioning and workrate were incredible. No two ways about it round eleven is one of the best rounds contested in boxing history. Watson would have won without the brain injury.
Benn 1 was for me Eubank's best performance, he was superb. I think he was treated in hospital for a mashed tongue after taking a sickening uppercut from Benn.
Benn 2: I scored this a draw, but felt Benn did the better work overall. The low blow deduction surely cost him this fight. That said Eubank finished the stronger. When Tibbs screamed at Benn before the last round to give the 'best round of your career' sadly he didn't.
All three were great fighters!! Eubank was clearly Emile Griffith reborn, so similar......even down to the lisp!
1st Watson fight was very tight think Eubank might have sneaked it though much as I hate draws one might have been appropriate for that fight. The 2nd Benn fight I though Benn won. Interestingly about that fight, Don King had options on whoever won it but didn't have any options if it was a draw. Makes you wonder?
Yes I do.. Both Watson fights in fact..
More so the second one though.. Chris was getting totally owned in this one.. Watson fought like a man possesed & was on the verge of stopping him.. Eubank, cornered & battered, threw an upper cut from hell, purely out of desperation.. We all know the rest..
Against Benn, he won the first, after wearing the Destroyers full arsenal.. Benn gased & Eubank took full advantage.. However, the damage Benn inflicted, put Chris in the hospital that night.. As for the 2nd fight, Nigel was robbed.. It was awarded a draw, but Benn won that in my opinion.. By about 3 rounds!

Eubank was given more than a few controversial decisions.
I think he was the type of a fighter that would display his best when he was the underdog or being beaten up. Sometimes it seemed he was just coasting and gave away rounds.
Yeah the fights with Schommer and Ray Close were dodgy. Eubank needed a big fight to bring out his best otherwise he'd just coast

Emile Griffith was like that and he too had seriously injured a man in the ring.
Funny I just watched the Watson fight again last night and I could easily have Eubank winning. It was nowhere near as controversial as people made out.
I had Benn winning the rematch but again, it was close.
