Hatton is confident (which EVERY boxer should be) not arrogant and he lost to Pac because Pac (P4P#1) is better and was always going to be a bad style matchup for Ricky.
Look there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Hatton was arrogant because he didn't respect the enemies resume. It has nothing to do with a bad style matchup, he rushed in thinking he would bully Pacquiao around.
Hatton trains 3-4 months for a fight, not 2 months and he has never weighed over the limit for a weigh in which is impressive considering how "fat" people say/think he gets. If Hatton wasn't training or taking his boxing career seriously then he'd have missed weight a few times and never had all the success that he's had, PERIOD!
That's funny, I remember him going on a cruise till March, then starting his training camp. If Hatton was actually taking boxing seriously he would keep himself in shape around the clock.
I will laugh at any athelete that has ambitions of being the best but are not willing to make sacrifises because to me they recognise what it means to be the ''best'' they only see the materialistic title.
Very few fighters can stay in fighting shape year round without burning themselves out. Ricky loves to go drinking and eating which is fine because he dedicates himself to every fight when he schedules one. It's hard to argue with the results. Hatton has had a HOF career and probably would've lost to PBF and Pac even if he never gained a single pound between any of his fights!
Which is why Hatton is an average fighter. He can't stay in shape year around and he is unwilling to adopt the life of a boxer.
:la:I do know he always looks like that in between fights but it's more than just his "lifestyle".....Ricky Hatton must be a naturally fat guy. I mean to always put on so much weight in such a short period of time it comes down to that fat gene.
yo, who is that in your sig son?! GODDAMN!!
a forbes fight means nothing, forbes is just becoming a yardstick by which fighters measure thier eroding skills against, i hope ricky does fight forbes, id like to see forbes win that one, although i dont think he will. im predicting khan hatton to be announced before the end of the year, then im predicting khan by KO
Ricky always looks like that in between fights as many has pointed out. He has a round face which ballons when he's out of training (Abit like the nutty professor!) alothough we can't see a lot of it, his body doesnt look that big plus he's wearing a tailored suit so he can't be that massive - he's probably weighing 170lb.
I have had a change of heart from initialy saying he should retire after the Pac beating. The talk is a move to 147lb which would make sense and Steve Forbes is apparentally the guy he'll face in Manchester - it should be a fight to guage whether Ricky can still complete with the Top boys but if not should at least allow him to squeeze through a UD to sign off a great career with a win.
Perfect opponent, he knows Forbes is known for technical ability and overall ring generalship and lacks in the power department, compared to Hatton at least. Also, great chance of the fight going 12 rounds. Looks like we'll see another Valuev - Holyfield style decision if the fight goes the distance. If there's a stoppage, it'll be Forbes getting stopped. Hatton's a sure bet.
The drink will end up taking this man to hell. Floyd still would've kicked his ass if he never took a sip, but...
If he only didn't have that demon...I think he'd be a much better fighter...I like how he plants his feet and punches directly to the center of a guy's midsection, out of a clinch. He is definately a fighter who displays the proper clinch, by initiating it to control the tempo, and then punching out of it and landing...Ruiz didn't know how to punch out of a clinch like Hatton..still..isn't what I'd call a crowd pleasing style, but it got him where he is now, so...
Add to that how easy he cuts...He might make a stink again on the world level...I don't see him as a reigning champion though (On the world level)

Well Hatton is alway fat when not in training for a fight, Thats why he had to go to training camp early because he needs more time to lose weight, He training more to lose weigh than to actually get himself fit and ready for a battle.
1. ricky hatton always blows up between fights, maybe you idiots don't know that.
2. he didn't even take alot of punishment in the pacquaio fight
Damn dino, he looks like you in that interview.
Johnny Rebel you're wrong.
One on Ricky Hatton being humble, he is actually pretty arrogant which is part of the reason why he got whooped by Pacquiao the way he did.
Two on him training hard. If he truely trained hard he wouldn't let himself get out of shape like that. Look at Mayweather jr, shiit look at Mayweather sr. Your diet and regular activities is part of training. Training doesn't consist only of the 8 weeks before a fight, it's your whole life.

why does he let himself go like that???
Ricky trains so hard (much harder then most fighters) that he has always partied hard when he's able to (between fights) because he loves his beer and food, so he indulges. Make no mistake though, when Ricky has a fight he trains harder and longer then most. Ricky has also said he doesn't want to burn himself out which is what he'd do if he tried to train year round with his training regiment.
Hatton's between fight eating and drinking habits would only be a problem if he wasn't making weight but that's never happened so he should be cut some slack.
hatton is punch drunk
No, he's just drunk in this video!
Hatton's accent is difficult to understand for non-Brits and why some of his fights when he's talking with Graham between rounds have had subtitles added to them when they're re-shown in America even though they both speak English... LOL
Dude looks fat.
I think e should step up to 147 and fight some people there, I mean WTF he is already done at 140, and he doesnt look like he can make 140 healthy anymore
If Ricky does decide to fight again he's already said it's going to be at WW (147). I support Ricky whether or not he decides to fight again.
It's a shame that one of the good guys in boxing (Hatton) who's done so much for the sport is shown such disrespect by so many. Ricky is one of the most down to earth celebrities and has always given 100% in training camp and in every one of his fights. As "fat" (hence the nickname "Fatton" that Ricky embraced since he's such a good sport) as Ricky gets between fights, which is way overrated because he doesn't carry extra weight well with his small frame, Hatton has NEVER not made weight for a fight, unlike many other fighters!
