clottey????? what did he do to clottey???? maidana def hit a couple of time behind the head but he got reprimended by the ref. imo what really focked with ortiz was the left eye. once he gets hit with a straight right at the very begining of rd 6 (1st punch) his eye starts closing. one eye cut the other closed hes getting beat so he quit. end of story. :boxing:
Did you even watch the fight? Round 12 was the most obvious. He hit Clottey with a low blow and a rabbit punch in 12. Don't get me wrong, Clottey lost the fight because he quit fighting but Cotto does throw his share of illegal punches.
hes not mexican, hes some dumb kid from kansas
Well I guess you are right, maybe he should move to Mexico and see what it's like to really struggle. Those HBO promo's about how tough his life are made me fukin laugh.
I mean, I don't know anyone that doesn't come from a broken home but so what...
In countries like Mexico people have much worse problems, like when they are going to get their next meal from or where can they get some shoes for their feet.
I think this kid believed his own hype. He lacks serious toughness and the will to die in the ring.
There were a lto fo rabbit punching but so what. Ortiz fukin quit, this kid really dissapointed me.
He has no heart and the things he said after the fight showed he's not cut out for the fight game.
People say that fighters like Margarito are the kidn that will end up not being able to speak right because they never back down but if you don't have that attitude in boxing you won't get anywhere.
You have to be willing to leave your life in there if you want to be champ. Ortiz was so used to knocking people out and not having anyone fight back that the first time he fought someone that wasn't intimidated, he folded.
Sad because this kid has all the talent in the world to become a great fighter, he just doesn't have the heart. Maybe he can go see the Wizard of Oz and he can get a heart.....

the rabbit punching wasn't that bad and wouldn't have changed the outcome of the fight.

by no means im bringing this to downplay meidana's victory!!!
he won fair & square.!!
this thread is because of the poor job the ref did...
im wondering how many times does anybody needs to get hit like that to at least make a warning.. or deduct a point.... the ref was lost... he was like ..ok that punch is legal...
ortiz quit !!!! no mas!!! nothing is going to change that!!!
but lets not ignore the escence of the thread

Yup that was one of the rabbit punches that made this kid say no mas.
Caiz did a poor job in that area but he was trying to let the guys fight. You are damned if you let them fight and you are damned if you dont let them fight but in this case, Caiz should have stopped it (the rabbit punches) right away. Refs need to be more strict. If you see one rabbit punch, you stop the action, you warn the fighter and the next time, it's a point deduction, same goes with head butting, low blows and elbows. You don't allow a fighter to get away with 5 or 10 fouls and never do nothing about it.
i don't think it matters... ortiz still woulda quit.
Don't matter Ortiz quit like a coward. Sorry but that shit doesn't cut it. He has all the talent in the world but once someone actually stood up to him, he wanted no part of it.
I guess they will keep looking for the next DLH but he won't be easy to find.
Ortiz really lost all my respect....

It is CALZAGHE if you think he is the man then learn how to speel his name correctly......Lefty
Before jumping on someone for a spelling error, you should learn how to spell the word "spell".

There is no hate here my friend. I like Cotto as a fighter even though I think he has seen better days and is regressing on the downside right before our eyes.
I just admit the truth and Cotto is notorious for whipping a low blow to get himself out of trouble or to try and turn the tide of the fight. Ask Judah and Clottey.
And for the earlier poster. I did watch the Maidaina/Ortiz fight 3 times now and Ortiz definitely received his share of rabbit punches. Ortiz also held at times and tried to make it appear he was being held. None of that matters though, what matters is he ultimately quit while being 3 points ahead on all cards with 7 rounds to go.

:headbang:
your comment would have made more sense if you said cintron instead of cotto. i guess that hate dont let you think straight :boxing:

That pic you show is not an illegal rabbit punch. The fighter ducked into to the punch.
I hope you are not a Cotto fan and discussing illegal punches.....
