Cotto was bleeding out of every part of his body in the 12th round against a mexican cheater with a solid chin and was getting hit by plaster over and over.
Ortiz quit in the 6th round ahead on scorecards against a guy he k'od twice because he realised boxing actually involves getting hurt
Torres recently got dropped three times by a fringe fighter that got got KOed in the first round by Saul Alvarez.(Raul Pinzon)
maybe he fell off the map a bit, but the guy aint beating Maidana at this point, thats for sure.
That fight was at 154. I don't think Torres has taken his career seriously since the Cotto fight. Even when he won the belt, he was hardly fighting. Only like 6 fights since that Cotto loss.
the fight last night reminded me of Cotto-Torres, but maybe its just me.
That's exactly what I was thinking while watching it. Except Torres is a lot faster and dangerous than Maidana, although not as durable.
Those are the types of fights you have to get through to make it to the top. It's not easy being where the top guys are.
just because cotto has a better resume than ortiz doesn't mean ortiz can't beat him.
people get too hyped up in big names. it don't mean jack inside the ring where skills matter.
ortiz has the skills , size and power to beat cotto. only question is if he has the heart to in a tough fight.
Your shitting me right?
Ortiz could have won that fight, where are the skills you talk about? Ortiz should have been jabbing to disrupt vision and hit him with clean shots, Ortiz would have gotten clean and easy KO doing that, skill my ass.. Cotto would break him down.

im not a bandwagoner,
but i can hope cant i
Im sayin if he has a good trainer like roach he would be amazing. With power like that all he needs is to polish up his boxing and footwork.
i don't downplay torres skill.
i like torres and think holt got lucky in the rematch.
i think he has faster hands than maidana and better skilled.
i'm just saying the skills didn't play a part in either fight.
cotto is better skilled than torres. he just kept getting caught with torres' power because ricardo had faster hands than he thought. plus cotto was pretty chinny at 140.
ortiz is also better skilled than maidana. he gave maidana his only chance of winning by fighting the way he did.
neither torres or maidana's skill matter in either fight because cotto and ortiz made it a tougher fight than it should have.
if they had just taken their time and had been more cautious it would have been easier for both.
agreed............................
Only the bandwagoners think Maidana is going to hold the belt for any amount of time.
maidana doesnt even have a jab bro.
All you need is to keep your hands up and have a good gameplan. the guy is bunk and will most likely lose in a rematch against ortiz
it's a shame ricardo didn't make more of a mark in the sport.
he's an exciting fighter to watch.
I feel the same way. He knocked down Holt and I was jumpin up and down ready for him to finally be able to shine at 140lb and then gets headbutted and Koed.
maidana and torres' skill level were not a factor in the fights.
cotto just kept getting caught because his chin is iffy at 140 with all the weight he cuts.
ortiz fought a pretty dumb fight.
Torres skill is very very evident he isnt some push over with power like maidana is. Torres wouldve beaten Yolt if he hadnt been headbutted. Why do people always downplay Torres's skill. the only two fighters hes lost too were Cotto in a legitimate Knockout and Holt which was an unfair headbutt that knocked out Torres by Holt.
Bottomline torres is a much more polished and skilled ifghter than Maidana. Maidana wont hold the belt long just watch
Torres polished? Man him and his brother, you picture those dudes at a bar then getting the call to fight and going without hitting the gym.
They pretty much rely on their power for anything.
I don't think Torres is much different from Maidana at all in terms of skill.
Cotto weathered that storm and won it's true coming back from being rocked big time.
Hmm I see a rebuttle but no actual real examples. for one I see head movement and better footwork to open angles to hit cotto.
lets do some comparisons
Cmon man theres a big difference Maidana is soo telegraphed Torres throws better in coimbo has faster hands better footwork headmovement you name it. maidana is verty very raw
the guy types "ARE THIS GUY STUPID OR RETARDED" and i'm dumb?
at least my grammar is up to par.
Your grammar might be "up to par" but your boxing IQ is a disgrace.
the fight last night reminded me of Cotto-Torres, but maybe its just me.
I agree It was remiscent of Cotto torres. BUT Cotto overcame the devestating puncher.
AND I have to say that Torres is much muhc more polished in his skills than a very raw but strong maidana
Cotto fought until he could barely stand much less fight. Ortiz quit when things got a little rough for him. Whoever tries to compare the is just a dumb hater and should not be taken seriously.
uh huh.....
and maidana hit ortiz with right hands not left hooks , cotto's bread and butter.
so what's your point?
ortiz beats cotto. not many people would think so but i do.
Haha, nah man. Ortiz would have trouble getting inside for those short right hooks on Cotto. Cotto's jab would give a green Ortiz fits.
If Ortiz develops like he was on his way to doing, I could see him eventually being able to beat Cotto, kids got some great tools.
But the Ortiz that fought last night? As close to zero chance as possible.
Unless you're talking about the 140 version of Cotto. And that right hook would ko Cotto at 147? Dude come on, you're way smarter than that.
uh huh.....

You guys are getting all hyped up with what PATRICK is saying come on.
