Can anyone explain to me why Chagaev thinks staying at range is going to work?

What do you mean it doesn't matter? You don't know how much work it takes to get inside on Wlad, he trains specifically not to let that happen, and hug and lay on anyone that does. Wlad just laying on him tires him or anyone else out; that's how he eventually got Thompson tired to land the right. You do all that work to get on the inside and when you finally do, you just get grabbed and layed on by a guy that outweighs you by 20 pounds to tire you out even more. I would have wanted Chagaev to slip the jab like he did a couple times and hit Klit with combinations starting with a right hand to the body. Either Chagaev didn't train for that or he isn't built for that. It's easy to say what Chagaev should do from a couch. So you think Chagaev utilized the best strategy for the fight? To stay at Wlads most dangerous weapons range and take them all night while MAYBE throwing a reaching punch from range every few minutes? If Wlad leans on you and you get tired, so be it. At least make the ATTEMPT before you rule it out. At least TRY a different strategy than getting punched in the face at your opponents best range, while being totally out of yours. I'd rather do that than stand at Wlads best range using less than effective head movement taking jabs all day. At least I could say I made the effort. At least TRY moving forward. There's no way anyones gonna tell me Chagaev didn't fight like a dumbass.

I dont really see Chagaev standing at his range, only when hes against the ropes. You're not giving enough credit for the "robot" having great footwork. Every time Chagaev moves to him Wlad is moving away and jabbing. Every time Chagaev is moving away Wlad is moving in range and jabbing + straight right. And as for boring. Has there ever been a 1 sided fight that was exciting? No. If you're 100 times better than your opposition its not gonna be fun to watch. Its gonna be a beat down. Which is what Wlad delivers every fight. Its like Winky vs Trinidad. Boring ass fight. Doesn't mean Winky sucks. Infact it's probably one of his finest performance. If yall don't realize Wlad has become a master of executing the sweet science (hit and not get hit) to a T then go watch UFC. What do you MEAN you don't see him standing in Wlads range? How many times did you see Chagaev actually attempt to get INSIDE. The ONLY time he did was when he was jumping in with reaching punches and after that, he just stood there using sub par headmovement with his gloves up. Watch a person like Tyson or Joe Frazier for what you have to do against a tall fighter with a long jab. You make sure you're coming forwards ALL THE TIME. You keep your head IN HIS CHEST. YOU DON'T STOP CHASING HIM DOWN TILL YOU GET HIM. I see you talking about Wlads footwork, but Chagaev didn't give him any reason to use any real footwork. Chagaev should have had Wlad on the back foot ALL THE TIME. He should have been trying to get INSIDE Wlads range ALL THE TIME, but he was quite happy to stand flat footed while he got his face jabbed in. Utterly pointless.

If Klitschko just hugs, at least it will be on him and he'll take flack for it instead of you just standing right at the end of his punches bobbing and weaving without actually stepping forward while he racks up points with the jab. This is what it's all about. Wether he wins or lose, gets KO'd or quit, he get the same amount on his paycheque. That's all that matters and you all could see that in the fight, he gave up before the bell rang for the 1st rd

Seriously, I'm not understanding it at all..... For someone who I heard the announcers call "The White Mike Tyson", why did he not once try to keep his head in his chest? He wouldn't even have to throw punches, just keep at YOUR range and pressure the man for God's sake!!!!
